My Second Job ;)

So many exciting things are going on here at Hems for Her! I've been blogging for nearly three weeks (which is no time, I realize), but already I feel so sure of myself and my mission. The early feedback I've gotten has been incredible and heart-warming, and it really reaffirms that what I am doing is worthwhile and filling a hole on the internet. I can't remember the last time I felt so passionate about a "pastime"! I scour the internet nightly- reading and commenting on other blogs, responding to my own emails and comments, learning all I can about the business, editing photos, writing content, promoting myself- it's definitely like having another job.

I already feel like I am developing a voice (a co-worker said "conversational with just the right amount of bite") and a vision. I ride through town now and scout spots for possible photo shoots. I take better pictures of other people now. This is making me more creative- I can feel it surging through my veins. I know that sounds cheesy, but it's true. Every day I wake up with a purpose (well, I still have other purposes- mother, wife, teacher, etc) and excited about what I'm going to wear. It's just awesome.

I have several secretive things in the works that I can't reveal just yet. I've got some super awesome photo shoots coming up. I've got business cards being made. I feel pretty legit, truth be told. It has been a whirlwind of activity and I am so excited to continue on this journey with you along with me. 

Today's photo shoot was outside the school (AGAIN!) and my curvy partner-in-crime Tricia from My Life as Tricia (check her out!) photographed me. The sun was bright and we struggled for inspiration but I think we did a pretty good job. We are tired of the same background, so we have a special photo shoot lined up tomorrow. I'm especially impressed with the photos I took. Like I said, I am getting better through this process.

The outfit was mostly Old Navy- instead of a traditional Kendi-style 30 for 30, I need to do 30 days of no Old Navy! Now that would be a challenge. The sweater was a hand-me-down from the BFF Callie at Polka Dot Pancake. Remember she's not just generous with me.... she's willing to giveaway merchandise to you. Eyes closed. Looks artsy, but really it's just super bright outside!
