I already feel like I am developing a voice (a co-worker said "conversational with just the right amount of bite") and a vision. I ride through town now and scout spots for possible photo shoots. I take better pictures of other people now. This is making me more creative- I can feel it surging through my veins. I know that sounds cheesy, but it's true. Every day I wake up with a purpose (well, I still have other purposes- mother, wife, teacher, etc) and excited about what I'm going to wear. It's just awesome.
I have several secretive things in the works that I can't reveal just yet. I've got some super awesome photo shoots coming up. I've got business cards being made. I feel pretty legit, truth be told. It has been a whirlwind of activity and I am so excited to continue on this journey with you along with me.
Today's photo shoot was outside the school (AGAIN!) and my curvy partner-in-crime Tricia from My Life as Tricia (check her out!) photographed me. The sun was bright and we struggled for inspiration but I think we did a pretty good job. We are tired of the same background, so we have a special photo shoot lined up tomorrow. I'm especially impressed with the photos I took. Like I said, I am getting better through this process.
The outfit was mostly Old Navy- instead of a traditional Kendi-style 30 for 30, I need to do 30 days of no Old Navy! Now that would be a challenge. The sweater was a hand-me-down from the BFF Callie at Polka Dot Pancake. Remember she's not just generous with me.... she's willing to giveaway merchandise to you. All you have to do is make sure you have liked the official Hems for Her Facebook page.

Love the outfit!!!!! You really inspire me to try outfits that I would never have even thought to try before!!!! Anxiously wait every evening to read your blog!!! Keep up the excellent work!!
Tricia
Tricia...you're a great photographer! Katie, that first picture is amazing of you! I never knew you loved Old Navy so much...see, I'm a Gap gal, through and through! But I did see those boots at ON and thought about buying them for a split second, but then realized I had no idea how to wear them. You pull them off flawlessly, my dear.
I knew that sweater looked familiar! I'm so lucky to have such a beautiful and fabulous best friend!
You're ugly please stop with this crap.
fattyyyyyyyyyyyy.
Gotta love trollers. Whoever that was is clearly an idiot because you look fantastic!
Please dont be jealous of her awesomeness, style, and beauty.
Suck it stupid.
Thank, have a crappy day.
You know what they say, "If you don't have haters, you're doing something wrong!" Jealousy is just love and hate all mixed together at the same time...someone needs to get over themselves!
Seriously - I think you look fantastic! You have inspired me and it hurts us all when someone can be so negative. thank you for your positive attitude and keep doing what your doing!!
You look wonderful, don't let the small minded get to you. Bet they wish they had your great smile. Just read about this on sit girls. :)
I am just setting up a new blog and found SIT girls, great site.
Wow "anonymous" ( rude one) I guess your mother never taught you manners, or the old saying " if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all".
I happen to think ALL people are beautiful... All of us have our own ways of shining, and girl you ARE DOING IT!
And again to the rude individual TROLLING this blog/woman. I pray for you. I pray for piece within yourself, b/c the only person who is UGLY is one who is mean to others...
Kerry, beautifully put. I couldn't have said it better myself. Thank you so much. Your words are very touching!
You know what, it actually made me cry to read that horrid and untrue comment. I am saddened that people can be so mean. I am saddened that their lives must be so terrible and they must hate themselves so much that the only enjoyment they have is putting lovely, beautiful, brave, courageous and creative people down. I salute you for leaving it up to expose their despicable behaviour.
Thank you so much for the kind comments. It was a tough decision to make but I'm glad I left the comment!
