"Peacock Green" Acres- Country Meets City

It feels so weird to be blogging at 9 AM on a Monday morning! Right about now I should be kicking it into high gear, reflecting on what went right (and more often- what went wrong) with my first period class. But today is a special day. It's "Parenting Day" at the high school, so we don't go in until 1PM for all afternoon parent-teacher conferences. So here I am still in my pajamas, blogging about yesterday's outfit. If I had been as dedicated about working out everyday as I am about blogging every day, I'd be a real beast. Alas, this is more fun and way less sweaty ;)

Yesterday,the entire extended family drove up to Rogersville to visit my brother-in-law and the newest member of his sweet family, my first niece, Hermione (don't you just love that name?). I had to drive because of my terrible motion sickness, so I wanted to dress comfortably. I felt very "biker chic", and I'm not sure how I felt about that, to be honest. I coveted a moto jacket and finally bought one from Old Navy when it was on sale and I had a 40% off coupon. I struggled between the black and the brown jacket, and thought the black would be more versatile. 

Saturday night I shopped in my local Urban Outfitters for the first time ever and I immediately fell in love with this beautiful peacock green sheer infinity scarf. It reminded me instantly of this outfit over on my Pinterest, and I knew this would be my "Meet the Baby" outfit.





Brian and his lovely girlfriend Victoria live with her family in  a 
sprawling country home with beautiful claw foot tubs, rough-hewn rood timbers, chickens. dogs, coops, etc. A really wonderful, homey place. And I was especially intrigued by the juxtaposition of my "tough" outfit and the country landscape. Oh, yeah, and all the chickens. I like chickens. I tried to catch one for a photo opp, but they were a little camera shy.

My gracious sister-in-law Stephanie willingly took photos for me, humoring the fact that everyone was looking at us like we were crazy. I'm still trying to get used to this whole "modelling" thing! Taking photos is really tough for me, because I am not used to being in the center of attention. I try to channel my inner Tyra Banks (SMYZING, anyone?) but usually I just end up looking drunk or high or angry. Interesting backgrounds really help me. And ultimately I just try not to take myself too seriously!
