Occasionally Stylish : Taking Pictures

I have a dear friend who is a phenomenal photographer. She contacted me recently and said her resolution for 2012 was to expand her portrait business to include more weddings, and she wanted some help with some outfits that would be both stylish and functional.

As a photographer she will have to be in clothes that are both comfortable and flexible. She also wants to look professional and dressy as she is mingle through reception crowds and meets with clients.

My basic formula for these outfits are a pair of black pants (straight, boot cut, or wide leg depending on body shape and preference) with PLENTY of stretch and a colorful top. I tried to include tops that were longer in length, since as a photographer, she will be squatting and leaning and stretching a lot, and she doesn't want to overexpose herself!

The photographer for my wedding wore pants...I agree, it would be pretty impossible to wear a dress!

I'm trying to figure out which one I like best and I really can't!! I love them all! I really do have to invest in a GREAT pair of black pants. Thank you so much for doing this for me! You're amazing! I can't wait until we shoot your session! <3

I also think that the top should be a little muted, neutrals or black. Some times people have more than one photographer and guests at the wedding take pictures too and you don't want a photographer standing out in the background. So, I think I'd stay away from crazy patterns and colors. I like the idea of the neutral top and red show in the last look because then she can add a pop with the shoe that won't stand out in the background of pictures.

Katie, these are awesome suggestions for her! I always get mixed up with two different prints. But I heard the bottom should have at least one of the colors that's in the top and everything will work out! :)
