My boss, A.K.A. the principal, stopped me and exclaimed, "I know where you got this dress! I saw it at The Limited last weekend." One day I'll learn to just smile and nod and make people think I spent a lot of money on my dress. Instead, I said, "Oh, no way! I got this at Wal-Mart for 18 bucks!" True story.

| Dress- Wal-Mart Shoes- Kohl's (similar) Cuff- Ponder and Stitch |
I know some people really hate Wal-Mart, and I'll admit- Sunday grocery shopping there has got to be one of the levels of hell Dante poetized. But a few of their clothing items are cheap and chic- two of the main requirements when I'm shopping. I saw this dress and knew I had to have it, and I didn't feel guilty about spending less than $20 on it. Things were clearly going my way because I had the great luck of running into Maggie of BleuBird Photography the same day.
We've been trying to get together for a blog shoot since November, and it must have been serendipity at play! Great dress, beautiful day, awesome photographer. Now it's no secret that I will beg, bribe, and borrow for someone to take my pictures for the blog. I have no less than four (semi-willing) photographers, not including myself in a pinch, but this is the first time that someone who gets paid to do this played photographer for me (not to say that my other photographers don't deserve to be paid because they do. They are totally awesome, but I am totally poor so that's where the begging and bribing comes in!).
I know it's shallow, but one thing I really love is the feeling of being a "model", so it was really interesting and fun to have a pro giving me direction. I was also shocked at how much time she spent on the ground. Photography is hard work!
Maggie is generously giving away a photo session for any Alabama resident (unless you'd like to fly her to you!) Be sure and enter the giveaway below!

Gorgeous! We did our engagement shoot this weekend and after four straight hours of imitating everything I'd seen on ANTM, I was EXHAUSTED! But the real stars are the photogs, you're right about that! Luckily, both of y'all's hard work paid off -- these pics are BEAUTIFUL!
& PS: when I try to like her photography page, I get this error: "Could not retrieve id for the specified page. Please verify correct href was passed in." :(
Thanks! I will check that right now!
Wal Mart? Really? That's awesome! It's such a pretty dress. And your photo shoot photos came out amazing :)

Love that dress! How fun that you got to take photos with a pro... these came out great :)
Soooo pretty!! I love seeing you model clothes. And I love those shoes! (and it's super awesome to see the cuff again, too! lol). xoxo
These photos came out gorgeous! Wish I was an AL resident so I could enter the giveaway!

You look great! Love the paisley print and length on you :) Now off to try and win a photoshoot :) These shots are amazing!
I love the dress, and the pictures turned out great! I may have to make a quick trip to Wally World soon! ;)
DARLING dress!! Too bad my Walmart doesn't have anything that cute. Our plus size section consists of a wall of jeans/sweats and 3 hanging racks.
Cute dress! I was actually looking at the Walmart website this morning for dresses and saw some super cute ones! I really hate shopping at Walmart because of their poor customer service but I might have to make a trip.
You look beautiful Katie! And what a FABULOUS giveaway. I live in Louisiana :( HAHAHA Photography IS hard work, but they took some gorgeous photos of you. I can't get over the dress. It's beautiful! Go walmart! :D

Great photos, and great dress from WallyWorld! I've been known to wander out with clothes when I was supposed to come home with groceries :P
Looks great! I'm so chicken to try patterns!
Thank you! Go for it! Don't be afraid!
That's why I ask my husband to do the grocery shopping. He sticks to the list, I do not!
Thank you, Kim!! I'm excited about the giveaway. You are pretty close! ;)
Their on-line selection is awesome! I saw some great chambray pieces for super cheap!!
Check on-line. The selection is way better. Wal-Marts are very hit and miss, I think,
This dress is great! Perfect for spring and summer. No wrinkling, very flattering!
Thank you, Keesha. I'm really digging this longer, more lady-like length (lots of Ls) :P
Thanks, Amy! I need to buy a new one! I just can't make up my mind! I love to see YOU modeling clothes- you should do at least one outfit post a week :)
It really was so much fun- but nerve-wracking!
Thank you, Annie! No shame in my Wal-Mart game :)
The pictures turned out amazingly! Love that dress Katie, suits you beautifully. Love that paisley is in this spring, I've personally always loved it!

That's a walmart dress?! I'm going to have to run over over there and see! (Because that dress is so beautiful and looks so expensive, and you look pretty fantastic in it!)
Thank you, fellow Katie!! I always check out the clothes when I'm there. You never know what kind of treasure you'll find!
Alexandra, I'm a big paisley fan too! In fact I'm wearing it in today's post too! Oops! Thank you so much!
Sigh...wish I lived in Alabama, but then we'd probably skip work and go to Old Navy too much :)
Love the dress and the pictures are gorgeous! Good luck to everyone who's entering!!
I think that's the first time I've ever heard someone say "Wish I lived in Alabama" ;) Yeah it's a good thing you don;t; we would be dangerous shopping partners!!
