Disclaimer: Big Girl in Bright Pants. Look at Your Own Risk.
It begs the question: If I'm not supposed to wear them, then why the heck do they make them in my size? I'm no stranger to colored denim- here I am rocking my pink pair; here pairing red skinnies with leopard print- but I understand the hesitation. You aren't going to blend into the crowd in bright red or bright orange pants. You are going to stand out! I'm not done with colored denim. I still want a bright blue pair, and a mint green pair, and a lavender pair, and a kelly green pair... well, you get the picture.

katie...i think this is my favorite outfit yet! love it. ive been musing lately-ultimately, at the end of the day, what will we be happy about? holding back from something that gives us joy (aka, fancy colored pants!) or embracing it?! im working on letting go of the fear of judgement and learning to embrace myself as i am. and i happen to love green jeans.
Hooray & good for you! Love this outfit! I just just just bought a pair of Red Skinnies from Lane Bryant and I've worn them twice. I'm still a little shy about it... they are the tightest, brightest things I've worn on my lower half in about 20 years. But, I kind of love them.
Thanks for rocking this! :)
Beautiful! And I would not let someone dictate what you decide to wear. You look amazing- and I think I will be wearing my red pair today. (I've been nervous)
Loving the floral print with the bright orange pants on you, Katie! You prove that you can look amazing in anything, no matter what your size!

I don't get all that negativity. One of my friends is convinced she's "too fat for skinny jeans." I don't think that's true. I think she's just trying on ill fitting pairs. I'll say it again, print and color don't matter much when it's a well made, well fitted piece of clothing.
Gap has some great colored denim and I saw a mint pair in the window at Guess the other day.
You are rocking the orange pants and I can't wait to see your rainbow of colored denim!

I think you look great in your colored jeans! It makes me want to find some ;) I love your fashion sense and find it quite inspiring.I do have one pair of a light tan color but I think I should find some bright colored ones.
I love colored jeans on you! I've tried on a million pairs and always leave the store empty handed! I need to keep trying!

Love this outfit, Katie!! Soo great for spring or summer. I'd like to get a pair or two of colored jeans. I'm really liking the soft pink and bright blue, and the kelly green. Well I might end up with a few pairs. heehee
Enjoy your Spring Break!!

I think they look great on you!
I love the colours of your outfit, so summer-y :)
I've been afraid to wear them myself, but they look very flattering on you. Hmmm...perhaps it's time to give colored denim a chance :-)
I am loving colored denim...except I haven't actually been out shopping without the kids in so long that my wardrobe is currently void of bright awesome pants. You rock them,though...they look fabulous!
I like the citrus palette you're wearing! :) Unfortunately, some people don't know how to do anything but criticize, so I'm glad you're wearing what you want to ...
That is so silly that people say that plus size women cant wear bright pants. You are the living proof that this is not true!! I think this might be my favorite outfit of yours ever! The colors are fantastic.

Thank you, Marie! Coming from you that is a huge compliment. You are always impeccable :)
Thank you, Carrie! Citrus colors- yummy, it reminds me of SUMMERTIME!
I want to get Sean some bright colored pants, and Curtis too! I am a little obsessed right now! I don't think they are going out of style anytime soon, so you've got some time to find a pair!
Thank you, Tracy! You should give it a try- you are so young and cute- it would look great!
Thank you, Katha! I feel pretty summery!
Target and Old Navy both have a really good selection of colors and Forever 21 believe it or not! Go for it!!
If anyone can rock colored jeans, it's you! I demand you get some now!!! :)
Thank you, Amber! You should definitely get a pair. It's a great, cheap investment. And so much fun!
I'm going to have to check Gap. I cannot get my hands on a mint green pair, and Gap's colors are amazing!
Thank you so much, Sharon! I really appreciate it :)
Go for it! I was definitely nervous about my red pants the first time, but I got nothing but compliments!
Thank you, Maggie! I didn't know Lane Bryant sold skinny jeans... I'm going to have to check that out immediately! I was super-nervous about my red pair too, but I love them :)
Thank you, Stephanie, and very insightful comment. You are definitely right. We need to do what makes us happy, especially when it's something as trivial as clothing, but that fear is hard to push aside. good luck in your journey! And rock some green jeans!
I can take no credit. My mom found them, and said, "Don't you like weird colored pants?" Yes, Mom, yes I do! LOVED your pink jeans in today's post! So perfect!
Thank you, Sarah!
I don't think there should be any such rule regarding who can and cannot wear colored denim. That color is extremely flattering on you, and the whole outfit really works well together.
You look great in coloured denim!
I love this outfit :)

I love the orange pants! I am a big fan of the colored pants trend (still looking for the right pair for me) and I think it's a fine trend for any age. The one thing I don't really like is that the majority of coloured pants are also either jeggings or skinny jeans, but I would love a pair of bright green wide leg trousers. Is that too much to ask? Apparently it is! Oh well. Either way, you look great :)
oh my gosh, you are absolutely darling, Katie! How fun that your'e on spring break! I am too. That's why I have yet to reply to your email, but I promise you I definitely read it, and was so happy to hear from you! Love your orange jeans- you styled them amazingly with those darling yellow shoes <3
p.s. thanks for adding me to your "blogs I love" page :) so glad we found each others blogs!
xo, elle from Living in Color.
Thanks, Elle! Enjoy your spring break!
And I'm glad we found each other too :)
I think it is too much to ask, but that's a real shame because I'd love a pair of bright green wide leg trousers too!
Thank you, Amy!
Thanks so much, Lynne! And you are right- rules are made to be broken!
Hey, I have some hot pink ones! I have been a little hesitant to wear them in public partly because I'm pear-shaped and also because I'm over 40. I'm ready to wear them tomorrow! I've been surprised to learn how much hate is directed at plus-sized people. So weird! I figure plus-size people are going to be seen even if they wear all conservative neutral clothing. So why not have fun? Haters are going to be stupid no matter what. So why bother with what they think?
I have that same shirt. Never thought about pairing the shirt with those pants.
Loving the floral print with the bright orange pants on you, Katie! You prove that you can look amazing in anything, no matter what your size!
