White clothing indicated you were wealthy enough to "summer" away from the dirty slums of the big city during the hottest months of the year. White dresses show disrespect for the bride as you are competing for attention. But white on wide people is a tougher rule to track down. The idea is wearing white acts as a spotlight, drawing the eye and the attention to the area swathed in white.
And that's supposed to be a bad thing... right? When Curtis saw me in today's outfit, he did a double take! He was speechless. So I guess having the spotlight all over my body worked out just fine.
