I know spiked accessories are super-trendy (were super-trendy? Usually by the time I get to a trend, it's passe), so I was really happy to find it on sale relatively cheap. What can I say? I'm easily swayed. As soon as I got to the car, I ripped the tags off and put it on. So shiny. Sitting next to Curtis in the bank, I was bored, so I started playing Fruit Ninja on my phone. Boom! I slice into a bomb! Dang it! I can't yell out because we are waiting. In a bank. So I smack Curtis in the arm. With my spiked bracelet.
Glad to know that in a pinch I could use my accessories as weapons. That will be especially handy when school starts back ;) (I kid, I kid). Anyway, after we signed our lives away again, we decided to go see Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter. As fans of the book, and if you haven't read it then I highly recommend it, we had super high expectations for the movie. We were really excited because the writer of the novel also wrote the screen play, so we thought it would be true to the original. Sadly, that was not the case. I am such a nerd that the movie has literally been the last thing I've thought about before I go to sleep and the first thing I think about when I wake up. I have Googled and Wiki'ed so many people, comparing their characters to the real person. I really geeked out over the whole thing.
While the movie wasn't as good as the book, I did enjoy it. However, I get the feeling that lots of people don't "get" it and think the premise is stupid. This is a real shame because it is so clever and interesting and fun. What's wrong with fun? Everyone acts like the movies are supposed to be so serious and artsy. What's wrong with something just being a good time? What movies haven't lived up to your expectations? Will you go see Abe Lincoln?

Love that headband! I've been looking for some new colorful headbands, I will have to check out U.O. :) This color combo is great.
Sorry to hear Abe Lincoln disappointed, but it sounds like it's kept you busy since :D
Love these colours on you, that turquoise is so summery! I think I would definitely want to read the book before seeing Abe Lincoln, Vampire Hunter, maybe it is a British thing but I just don't quite get the idea of a historical figure killing vampires. Maybe it is just a bit too far away from British humour for me to get it xo
I just got a spikey bracelet too! So, I bet it is time for them to go out of style. I haven't read the Abe Lincoln book, but I did love Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

Ok, first, you look SO pretty. I love the teal color on you. Love the new accessories! Second, I am DYING to see Abe Lincoln. I have this weird obsession with history related shows/movies and even more, I love anything vampires related (well minus Twilight, that's a whole other subject). I always wiki/google things after I watch a movie or show to find out the historical facts - I guess I'm a nerd too! Anyway, I never read the book though... do you think I'll still love the movie??
xo, Yi-chia
I love teal and black together. Your accessories really make the outfit on this one!
I see you're wearing another Walmart Dress. Inspired by your "Hot as Fire" post http://www.hemsforher.com/2012/06/hot-as-fire.html a few weeks ago, I bought this dress from Walmart.com:

I wore it to church on Sunday and got lots of compliments. When we got home B asked if I was going to change (I usually do) and I told him that the dress was just as comfy as a tank and cotton shorts :)
I'm pretty sure the last dress I wore was my wedding dress (almost 12 years ago)! I've always felt like separates were more versatile but I've been loving all of your dresses and it was only $12 with shipping & tax so I went for it. Thanks for the inspiration!
Also, I love this look! It's a fantastic way to dress up a simple LBD.
Haha, I love that your bracelet is also a weapon! The teal accessories look so cute paired with black. I hate when a movie doesn't live up to the book, it's always so disappointing.

Speaking of great minds (with the awesome spikey accessories) I just bought those flats in neon pink! You look fabulous.

Cute dress/outfit/accessories! That dress is really $9 at Wal-Mart? Wow!
I don't know about seeing Abe Lincoln, haven't read the books and the premiss seems a little odd and I wouldn't pay $13 to see it. But after saying that, I would watch it at home. =) Saturday night a small groups of friends and I saw Rock of Ages. Soo good!! It was hilarious! You should see it.
Have a great week, Katie! =)
Love your sandals! My hubby loves urban outfitters so I dont have to fight him to go with me. Congrats on your new accessories/weapons lol. I probably wont go see Abe until it his the $1 theater. Just cuz im cheap :)
I am loving the studded bracelet!

Love your black + teal outfit! Lovely my dear... and that spike bracelet... phenom!

Here&Now
Thank you Annie. I'm excited about both of them. I think I will get a lot of wear out of them!
Do it now! They have tons on sale for $4.99 plus 30 % off!
I completely understand the American humor/British humor thing!! It's really hard to explain. It's written by the guy who wrote Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and it's totally fake, but it takes itself very seriously. If that makes any sense at all.... Lincoln as a vampire hunter was such a bad ass character that I am thinking about deciding that is the actual history of the country because it's so much cooler! ;)
Same author, so I bet you would love it! Curtis is reading PPZ right now, so I have to what my turn. I loved the book. It was written like a real biography of Lincoln and talks about his childhood and his time as a young lawyer and it has pictures. It's so well done and the vampire stuff mixed in is so plausible. I want it to be real!!
Thank you, Yi-chia! You definitely need to go see the movie so we can discuss it! I am driving my husband crazy with all my factoids! It's so believable a story- that vampires were in America and tried to take over. You will love it!!!
Thank you! I think so too. I was afraid it was going to be too much gold, but I loved it!
I love that dress! I might have to buy to myself!! I always felt really out of place in dresses, but now, like you said, I prefer to be in them. I feel sorry for men who have to wear pants every day! Too too hot :)
Seriously, the school probably won't let me wear it. I wouldn't let a student wear one because it could do some damage!
Love it! We are on a roll!!! I love these shoes- the gold really dresses them up! We are too awesome :)
It is! I mean for $9 I don't mind buying two or three ;)
Definitely watch the movie at home. It's probably not worth full price, but definitely worth watching. My husband wants to see Rock of Ages, so we'll have to make time for it!
It's worth the trip (and the wait)! I completely understand being cheap- trust me!
Thanks! Me too :)
Thank you, Jessica!!
darling look! Love it!
OMG, I would love it if you bought that dress! I love the lower back, it kept me nice and cool but still covered my bra. I'm seriously considering wearing it backwards with a lacy cami underneath (and probably a cardigan to disguise the fact that I'm wearing my dress backwards) for a different look :)
Headbands are so cute on you! Sad... they never stay on my head. I'll leave them to you to look fabulous in!
Oh you are so freaking adorable I can't stand it! I love that dress! I'm so self conscious about my legs and I need to let it go. I wish we lived closer, I'd break the bank at Anthropologie with you! ;)
Glad to hear someone who's seen the movie with a positive review. I told my husband I have to read the book first, I'm just weird that way, but I know he really wants to see it too. Your accessories make that outfit, so awesome!
Love the look!! and I enjoyed the Abe Lincoln movie. My husband thought it was lame but I really liked it overall. I have not read the books and would love to know more about them. Have you read the other zombie books and the George Washington Werewolf one? After seeing the movie would it be worth it to still read the book?
so cuuuteee :)
http://glamourgirl-bg.blogspot.com/
Thank you Nancy!
Yes! Something for me! ;)
If we lived closer, it would be non-stop mani-pedi-margarita parties!! Show those legs!
I am definitely a fan of reading the book then watching the movie. It was a fun movie, but I think you'll like the book more!
I haven't read the other books, though I am definitely intrigued by the Washington one! I thought the book was fantastic, and VERY VERY different from the movie- so I definitely recommend it. It was so well-written and believable!
Thank you!
Hahaha love how you used your bracelet as a weapon!! I'l keep that in mind next time I use spiked accesories. Sounds like you both had a wonderful time together! Abe Lincoln hasn't arrived to Panama yet, but I will probably see it when it does. Sorry it didn't live up to your expectations, but I'm glad to see you enjoyed it nonetheless.
