Third Time's a Charm: The Re-Mix Edition

Two weeks ago, I posted an outfit I really felt uncomfortable in. I don't know if it was the heat or my hair of the maxi dress I was wearing as a skirt, but I just didn't like it. I got tons of feedback from all of you guys, and I decided I would wear it again. I literally sat down with a notebook and wrote down every single suggestion. Some things I didn't do because I didn't have the items readily available- a button-down chambray shirt, a utility vest, for example- but I did incorporate many of the ideas, and I styled the dress/skirt three different ways.

What I learned from the experience was super simple and style advice we could all use. We are are own worst enemies. We tear ourselves down over things no one else ever notices. We must be confident- that is the most important thing to put on every morning! And finally, a smile really is the best accessory any woman can wear!

I love them all! I think the black tee with the skinny belt (is that leopard print?) is my favorite. Whoever suggested you wear your hair up was soooo right! Beautiful.

I'm so glad you realized, again, that confidence is key and that a you're never fully dressed without a smile :)

Hooray for remixes! My favorite is the bottom right with the skinny leopard belt and long necklace. It draws the eye to your tiny waist and gives you a beautiful hour glass shape:)

Giggling because I noticed that you used my suggestion of "dress long, hair up." You look beautiful, as always!

I loooove it with the black top. I think that it shows your hourglass figure more than the white. I also love how you pull off some rockin' belts. I need to go buy some!

I love how the necklaces and belts transformed the outfit! It is so true that we are our own worst enemies...I actually really liked the look on you the first time around!

You are so right Katie. I am always my own worst critic. But I think knowing that, just like you have acknowledged it here, is the first step towards my own self acceptance. This also reminds me of the song from the musical Annie and the lyrics, "You're never fully dressed without a smile!"

My favorite is the pic with the skinny leopard belt. It gives you a great waistline and ties in to the vibe of the skirt. Fashion is always a work in progress :)

I'm so glad you gave it another shot! Do you have a favorite? Mine is the one with the skinny leopard belt.

I hate that! I've worn many outfits that I just don't feel comfortable in. Then by the end of the day, I'm wondering why I would wear something that doesn't make me feel at my best. Although, I've ended up loving outfits that at first were a little out of my comfort zone, so I guess it's worth taking the chance sometimes.

You do look fabulous in this skirt! I love the colors and the print. I think my favourite look is the one with the wide brown belt.

Katie, you look beautiful in all these shots! If forced to choose, then I'd have to say my favorite look is the top photo with the black scoop neck top. Your hair looks wonderful in this up do! And the long earrings are just great for this look! I'm glad you gave this maxi dress another chance! :)

It's become my new mantra! Today I was in a short dress and I had my hair pulled up, and I said, "No. No. Hair down in short dresses!"

I do love belts! I went from none to like 30 seemingly overnight!

Thank you, Sharon. After reading all the comments I realized it wasn't as bad as I thought. Sometimes we just need to be reminded!

Absolutely. We are too tough on ourselves. It's a daily struggle.

It's kinda crazy how slim I feel like I look in that picture. Nice combination of elements!

It is definitely a work in progress. Two or three years ago I would have never have worn anything like this, so we are always growing and changing. I think that combo is my favorite too!

That's mine too!

You definitely have to take chances. I'm like you, there are many times that I end up loving an outfit that I was originally nervous about. I like the wide brown belt and the three-quarter length shirt as well.

Thank you Erin! I was wearing two pair of feather earrings! Figured I might as well go all out!

Why thank you, Miss Gunn ;) Absolutely I love that I can turn to my blog and get so much great fashion feedback! It's super handy!

Amen! Confidence is key. I think for summer this maxi is great with the white top, and you can remix it in the fall with the black top & belt + a cute cardi. It's definitely a keeper!
