Tunesday Tuesday: "The Fighter"

"Ya ever feel like your train of thought's been derailed?/ That's when you press on- Lee nails/ Half the population's just waitin' to see me fail/ Yeah right, you're better off trying to freeze hell"- Gym Class Heroes- "The Fighter"

For today's Tunesday Tuesday, I turned to popular radio and picked "The Fighter" by Gym Class Heroes. Now I'm a Travie McCoy fan from WAY BACK, so I usually love anything he does. Every time a new single comes out, it immediately goes into heavy rotation on my radio, and this song is no exception. Add that dude from One Republic and a tear-inducing video and I am in pop music heaven! Guys, it's so good! Seriously!

Dress- Old Navy
Shoes- Kohl's
Necklaces- Maurice's
Feather Headband- Polka Dot Pancake
Belt- Similar Here

Now the video and song is about being a fighter and never giving up on yourself and your dreams, so it has a great inspirational message, but the lyrics also talk about for real fighting a lot too, so it reminded me of the one "fight" I got in when I was in 7th grade. This girl KiKi just had it out for me. I don't know why. I was super meek in junior high. I mostly kept to myself, so I guess that made me an easy target Most people left me alone, but it was like it was her personal mission to make music class a living hell for me.

One day, and I tried to remember why, but I just can't, she decided we were going to fight after school. She told me to meet her at 3:00 under the flag pole out front, and if I didn't show everyone would know I was a chicken. I swear that whole day I was like a dead man walking. "This is it," I thought, "I'm going to get beaten up." I definitely didn't want to fight, I mean I fought with my little sister all the time, but I usually lost. I didn't want to fight a real person.

So.... yeah... this outfit has nothing to do with that. I wore it Saturday night and heard "The Fighter" Saturday night, so decided to combine them in a post. I've worn this recently, yes, but I added the long crocheted cardigan and some different accessories. So it's different. Don't make me beat you up!

Thank goodness, I never was in a physical fight (I'm sure I would've lost, being smaller than all the other girls)! I love all your accessories in your outfit...the owl belt goes so well with the feathers in your hair :)

What a fabulous feather headband! I've seen so many in stores, but I've always been hesitant to try them. I think I'm definitely going to try one on now!

I'm such a pacifist. I had people get in my face, and once had a milk carton thrown at the back of my head, but I always walked away.

Love these summer layers, especially the little owl detail on the belt.

So did you meet with her at the flag pole!? I'm on the edge of my seat.

You look adorable in this dress and I love the feather in your hair.

Did you go to the flag pole at 3pm? Haha. My 13 year old brother just got into a fight at school. Some kid that just had it out for him dumped chocolate milk on his head. So, my brother tackled him. Maybe it wasn't the best way to deal with the situation, but I am pretty sure no one else is going to try to pour chocolate milk on his head.

I have to admit that I am dying to know the outcome of the fight!! You left me hanging, girl! Haha. Love that you said you didn't want to fight a "real person." My little sister fights didn't count either growing up.

Aaaaaah the flagpole!!! We had the same fighting spot at my elementary school. By middle school I think it had moved off campus.
That is a perfect summer cardigan! I'm always on the lookout for cardigans that are still cool enough to wear when the temperature gets well above 90.

That makes me so sad! What a bratty girl. Well, you are adorable and this outfit is so cute.

I missed this post yesterday. After reading your hubbies hilarious one today I had to track back to read it. That's too funny she never showed! I was fortunately never in any fights. When I was in jr. high I did have a girl follow me into the bathroom and for some reason she flicked a piece of her salad on me and kind of threatened me. Why, I have no clue. She was one of those girls that just looks like she could kick some ass. I didn't do anything besides throw the piece of lettuce in the garbage and give her a "really?" look. She left me alone after that. Just weird!

Glad you didn't get pounded that day!! ; )

I would like to just one time punch someone in the face. Just once. To see how it feels. Is that weird?

My sister and I were vicious fighters (and dirty), so I'd like to think I could hold my own, but I wouldn't want to be put on the spot! Sorry I left you hanging!

I got it last year at Kohl's and they don't have anything similar on line right now. I tried a Google search, but I wasn't successful! It is a great summer cardigan. I don't like baring my arms, so this is a perfect way to get around that.

I have never been in a fight. Well, I've had plenty of verbal altercations, but no physical ones. Maybe some day.. Haha.

Love your outfit - another dress & cardi combo :) That color green looks smashing on you.

I know! It's really horrible. I hate bullying. It's so sad to imagine pre-schoolers bullying. How awful must their home lives be??

Thank you. I am really liking olive green. That's a first! I am terrified of verbal altercations too. I have a smart mouth and a quick temper, but I'm always scared it will lead to something physical!
