Why is it that I feel a little ashamed to admit that I am embarrassed by how much I love Katy Perry? I can't resist her music. It's so catchy and fun. And completely irresistible. Kinda like combining purple and orange. Now a year ago, I would have been horrified at these two colors put together. But when I was looking for some summery tops, I was automatically drawn to this particular top. It doesn't look like anything I have in my closet.
Today, I pack up a suitcase full of props- four Marilyn Monroe dresses, high heel shoes, blonde wigs, fake lashes, fake boobs- to drag along to theatre class. Our still untitled play will premiere Thursday morning, and we are hard at work getting scenes worked out. The premise, just in case you've been following along and waiting with bated breath, is pretty nutty. Marilyn Monroe injures herself and has to help find a replacement for the film she is working on. Hilarity ensues as an obsessed fan, an alcoholic slut, a nerdy bookworm and a cross-dresser each battle it out for the role of a lifetime. Sounds amazing, right?
I've really been in my element this week. We had an essay due which I enjoyed writing way more than I should have. A quiz today that I aced. I got to play director and boss people around. I am in my element! I really love being a student, maybe more than being a teacher. Sadly I haven't figured out how to make a sustainable living as a full-time student. Any ideas?

I love Katy Perry! Make sure you video this play because I think every one wants to see it. Maybe it'll get picked up by a studio and turned into a movie and then you can afford to be a full time student living off your Hollywood money.

Oh Katy Perry. Usually when I hear a new song of hers I think "ugh that's repetitive/ annoying" then a few months later Glee will do the song and I'll love their version. Eventually I move on from the Glee version to the original and grow to love it as well. (ok maybe that only happened with Teenage Dream, but still!)
PS: Love the purple and orange. I think you're the only person whose collection of ON items rivals mine!
It's all right, we all have our guilty pleasure bands (though I see nothing wrong with Katy Perry!). Britney Spears is totally mine. Yup, I'm still over here listening to her Oops! I did it again album.

I love this outfit and the pops of orange! I kind of enjoy Katy too, her music is just so catchy, it's hard not to start bopping your head when it's on. Or is that just me? Um, the play sounds amazing and I kind of want to see it in person! :)

I'll admit it, I like Katy Perry too. My six year old loves to sing along to all her songs. The funniest is her singing along to California girls - "Daisy Dukes, bikini on top. Skin so hot, we'll melt you popsicle." Hilarious!! I guess it's kind of bad she's singing that, but she doesn't know what she saying. lol

It's always bad when kids sing along, but it's hilarious because they have no idea! Everytime Sean hears a guy singing on the radio, he insists that he is the one signing and he'll sing a little if he knows it or lip synch if he doesn't!
I wouldn't say stellar by any stretch! But it definitely makes me miss theater too! I feel so energized performing and blocking and setting up. It really is so much fun.
Of course you can come see it! :) I am actually going to try to tape it and post it on the blog... if the other group members don't mind! I think Katy Pery is totally over the top as a perform but she does seem very down to earth!!
