| Yeah, that's terror on my face. There was a menacing crow nearby, cawing at me. |
Any year you get to don the red, white and blue for a second time in one summer is a good year! Am I right? I wore this dress back for the 4th of July paired with a simpler and subtler navy tank, but this time I decided to go all out with a bright blue slub-knit tee.

One day I will wear it in a non-patriotic way, but for this week I am going all out in support of America- I have watched every televised event on NBC- swimming, rowing, skeet shooting, synchronized diving, gymnastics (my favorite!), beach volleyball. And I may or may not spend a lot of time chanting "USA! USA! USA!". Oh, and crying, lots of crying. All the inspiring stories and the emotions of the athletes get to me. I cry when someone wins, I cry when someone loses. It's pretty ugly!
In case you missed it over the weekend, I was a guest blogger for J's Everyday Fashion while she's in Africa. It was very exciting to get the opportunity and if you are visiting from J's, I welcome you and thank you! As for the rest of you, you rock! Duh!

I too am Olympics addicted, and it's been constantly streaming on my laptop all weekend (Go Team Canada! Though Canada is NEVER as strong in summer games as winter games). A good Olympic story makes me cry every time- even the Visa ads with Morgan Freeman make me tear up.
Loving the chevron, btw! It's a very cheery pattern.
I love the chevron print. I love the red, white and blue combo, but I always worry about looking like I'm dressing up for a 4th of July event. I worry about it looking, costumey (as Tim Gunn would said). However, I guess the Olympics are the perfect time to rock these colors. Ok...where's my red, white and blue.

LOVE your patriotic look! Those are definitely your colors! Congrats on the guest post! J's was the first blog I ever discovered, and still continue to follow. I was so excited when I saw your post last week!

Love the cobalt blue tee with the skirt. I spent almost the whole weekend watching the Olympics in my PJs too! Can't wait for the men's gymnastics team finals tonight. I'm going to try and avoid any spoilers in the mean time!
Cute! Love this patriotic, fun look - that bright blue top looks awesome on you :) I haven't had a chance to watch much of the Olympics, but my favorite is gymnastics as well. Nothing like watching people bend in half and do cartwheels while lying on the couch in PJs!
I cry at the commercials where they show the athletes as kids with their moms. TEARS! Love your blog, btw. Been checking it out for about a week now and it's become a daily go-to for me. :)
The Olympics suck me in too! I find myself being uber patriotic during the games. Im sure my neighbors are sick of my "USA" chants!
The outfit is bright, cheery and fun! Go USA!!! LOL
Who doesn't love a good patriotic outfit. You are totally rocking this outfit and looking fabulous. I love watching the swimming competitions... I found myself even getting into the qualifying rounds, haha.

The red, white, and blue is perfect to rock during the Olympics! I didn't have time to watch last night, but tonight I'm hoping to park myself in front of the tv :) I love the men's swimming, gymnastics, and diving the best.

Love this look Katie! When you get tired of that skirt please send it up the road.
ps. The look on your face is priceless! Crows are scary!
Ugh I hate crows! That saluting pic is just too cute :) Makes me wish I had a TV every time I hear about the Olympics...

I'm a former athlete which means I'm super competitive... like in kind of a bad way, but seriously... who plays for fun? I mean the whole point is to win, right? Watching the olympics is horrible for me... my heart races, I scream a lot and sometimes it's quite vulgar. So while it's fun to watch I have to confess that I'm always on the brink of a panic attack.
Glad I am not the only cry baby when it comes to the Olympics! I'm totally diggin your patriotic look :)
We completely love this look! The stripes are too cute!!!

It's so fun to watch and I love the comradery among all the countries!
Thanks!
Well, I'm still on summer break so I have no "real" responsibilities!
Thank you!
Oh, it's non-stop waterworks over here! I can't help myself :)
I think that all those reasons are exactly why I'm NOT competitive (well except with Phase10, but that's different!). I definitely feel the panic attack though. It's kinda nice being on a delay that way I can mentally prepare myself and not watch if necessary (like Men's Gymnastics. So Sad!!!)!
Thank you so much Crystal! I am glad you found my blog too!
No TV? Wow, I admire you. I wish I could go without, but it might kill me ;) I really liked that saluting pic. We also did one of me doing the Pledge of Allegiance but I felt like some may see that as disrespectful!
I am thinking of buying another at Old Navy- only $15! This crow was MAD!
Those are my favorites too! I love Michael Phelps, I love our gymnastics team, and I really enjoy synchronized diving! USA! USA!
It is so inspiring. I can't help but get fired up! I haven't been this pumped since 96 in Atlanta!
Oh yes!! And the Visa commercials! And the human interest stories they share. Tears, tears, tears! And thank you so much for reading and commenting! Seriously! You rock!
Ha! You should hear me trash-talking the other competitors! I take it personally. All while snacking and sitting in bed in PJS!
I was out of town and couldn't watch it. I avoided twitter. I didn't watch the news. And I had taped it. I told my husband if it was bad news to erase it. When I got home it was gone. I tearfully told him, "I don't want to talk about it ever. It never happened." I still don't know anything, and I don't want to~!
Thank you so much Jenny! J's was one of my first blogs too, so it was super exciting!
I definitely felt costumey!!! Definitely. But like you said, this is a damn good reason to drag it back out!
Yes! YES! Of course Morgan Freeman makes me cry anytime he does anything! Ever seen Shawshank Redemption? I have to stop watching when Freeman's character gets out of jail because from that point forward all I do is SOB.
And Go Canada! And Great Britain (that was insensitive on my part)!
Thanks! I am nearly hoarse!
It's so hard to read blogs when the Olympics are on. It's hard not to get obsessed.
I know! I am so glad school doesn't start back until AFTER the Olympics!
