Problems-
1. I forgot to bring the camcorder, so I had to rely on my camera's recording capabilities.
2. I couldn't tape it because I was in it; therefore, I had to rely on our playwright (who admitted he didn't know anything about cameras) to film it. This accounts for some of the blurriness and focus issues.
3. Technically, we aren't allowed to film (something about posting on youtube, embarrassing participants, yada yada yada). So we filmed during our final dress rehearsal, that's why things seem a bit "scattered" in spots. Like I said, I probably broke some law even getting this to you.
All of that being said, I am quite pleased, despite the blurriness and little mistakes. We put this together in two weeks, eight classes, and I think it's awesome.
A couple of notes: I feel like the play is fairly straightforward. Marilyn injures herself with some "vicious" powder and has to find a replacement for the film. They hold auditions and you will see the four women "best suited" to replace her- we have a nerdy bookworm, a super- oversexed seductress, an obsessed fan who wants to BE Marilyn, and a 6-foot tall cross-dresser looking for fame and fortune.
We were quite the motley crew. I think most degree programs require at least one fine arts class and I think lots of people erroneously choose theatre thinking it will be easy. They don't expect to create a play and dress in drag. Our group was made up of mostly Accounting, Chemistry and Engineering majors. Our cross-dressing Marilyn is an Engineering student, and he was wonderful, allowing use to put makeup on him, fingernails, fake boobs, the whole nine yards. He was willing to make a fool of himself, stating, "Hey, in Engineering we don't have much fun!" I loved that most of the group really embraced it, and they weren't afraid to be foolish.
You may struggle to understand Cedric, our director, played by the kindly Joseph. Joseph is an accounting student from Kenya, and he is very new to the English language. He didn't even know who Marilyn Monroe was, so we had to give him a crash course!
So without further adieu- Here you go! Be kind ;)

Abeline Sparkle Stallion is fabulous! Thank you for sharing!
Oh, maybe it's because I'm a fellow southerner, but I couldn't detect an accent.
How fun! I love the cross-dressing Marilyn :D
Glad you were able to get it filmed and on the blog - sounds like it was quite the task! It came out great.
Ahhh....the sound is not working on my computer at work. Now I have to sit through the whole work day until I can watch it. The suspense!

Cute play! My mom is currently finishing her Accounting degree at UAB and she said that she will probably be taking theater and I was like, NO!!! You have to actually get up and do a play. She's now rethinking her options.
I'm at work now so I can't watch the video but I'm looking forward to seeing it when it get home! Thanks for going the extra mile to bring it to us :)

I know! She was my favorite :)
He said one day, "Man, boobs are awesome!" He was such a good sport. It was really great. And bringing your own props is a pretty good idea :)
Thank you! I think so too !
Thank you, Cambria, for watching (and watching again if you do!!)
I knew you'd like the play and Abe Lincoln! That's what BFFs do!!
I can't wait for you to see it! I think it's pretty funny!
Yes! I think lots of people are shocked at how involved THR100 is. The teacehr is fantastic though! I have had him twice and he's great!
It'll be worth the wait! ;)
Thanks, Megan! I wish it could have been a little more "professional" (aka in focus) but I was still pretty proud :)
Right!?! He really was a star! And yay for not noticing an accent- although I cringed at "Raaaaay-chel"!!
I don't know that knowing who Marilyn Monroe is is a requirement for everyone who speaks English... but good job! :-)
Hilarious! It cracked me up! I know that you were not supposed to tape it, but as I was watching it I realized that there was a time frame within which some of the funniest dance movements took place.
That was between 8:04 and 8:14. Actually it went on till about 8:44. It started when Marilyn no. 2 turned on her fan. Prompted, Marilyn no. 1 started the very seductive Marilyn shoulder movements. Marilyn no. 2 then propelled herself to do the famous skirt fanning act. Very funny! Marilyn no. 3 geared up for some totally hilarious butt swinging action. For the first few moments he looked like he was taking up a catcher position. I laughed so hard! And finally Marilyn no. 4 started to play seductively with her hair and spectacles. After that, the Marilyn group started to approach with a bit zombie like zeroing in on Marilyn Original as she tried to retreat. Great hand and leg gestures by Marilyn no. 3! In the meantime, Marilyn with the Fan was making the most spectacular leg swinging act on the couch while Marilyn the Dork buried herself in her book.
What I'd like to suggest to have someone make a serious of stills of that segment. As for movement and action that is the funniest segment of the play. The whole thing is very spontaneous so it comes out brilliantly. The spontaneity makes it invaluable.
Thanks for sharing! Sorry for being a bit long, but I like writing and it's prompted me to write.
I wouldn't say it's requirement for speaking English, but in theatre knowing who a person is certainly helps the actor understand his through-line and super objective for the play.
OMG, Katie that is hilarious! Well done. =)
Katie you are adorable! I love your little accent - great job :)

Haha! Thank you... sometimes it's a little thick, but I can't get rid of it!
Ah thanks Catie! I was really impressed with everyone! They did a great job, and the actual play was even better!
I'm really glad you noticed nerdy Marilyn trying to be seductive! She was really trying!
I bet everyone in the play would love some stills- I'll get my tech-savvy husband to do that for me!
