Tunesday Tuesday: "Rock, Flag, and Eagle"

"I'm gonna rise up, I'm gonna to kick a little ass, I'm gonna to kick some ass in the U.S.A., gonna climb a mountain, gonna sew a flag, gonna fly on an eagle. I'm gonna kick some butt, I'm gonna drive a big truck, I'm gonna rule this world, I'm gonna kick some ass, I'm gonna rise up, I'm gonna kick a little ass. ROCK, FLAG, and EAGLE!!"- Charlie Goes America All Over Everybody's Ass- It's Always Sunny Philadelphia

Sorry for the excessive use of the A- word, but when I was trying to find the the perfect song for this Fourth of July edition of Tunesday Tuesday, I wanted to avoid the typical patriotic songs we are all familiar with. I hope there are some fellow Sunny fans reading, otherwise, you may not enjoy this clip as much as you could. It is a totally irreverent, never politically correct, always laugh out loud hilarious series that my husband and I both adore. It's the type of show that you can watch mindlessly; episodes can be watched over and over again without ever tiring (at least for us).  This is one of those classic episodes so I encourage you to seek it out this Fourth of July week for a good belly laugh.

The first time I wore this outfit combination, Curtis commented that I looked like I was ready for a Fourth of July picnic or parade. Sometimes too much red, white, and blue can be a bad thing, so I wanted to wait and post it in July. Despite that, I think the red and white and blue is a great, classic combo. Nautical dressing is really in vogue this season; chevron patterns are popular; fedoras in awesome. So I am either classically stylish or a walking fashion trend disaster.

We took these photos at a local university. When I saw this free-standing sculpture, it immediately reminded me of a Ferris wheel. I imagined myself at the St.Louis World's Fair in 1904 - home to the world's largest Ferris wheel (see there's method to my madness). Am I the only one who gives an outfit a back story? The Wikipedia entry for the World's Fair is a truly fascinating read (am I also the only person who reads Wikipedia articles for fun??). I discovered that Dr. Pepper was introduced there, and frankly, that's all I need to know!

I love these pictures! I'm a big fan of Always Sunny. My favorite episode is the one where Dee trains to be a boxer and takes steroids.

Cute outfit! Something about the deep heat of summer being bearable in the crisp colors and lines of nautical looks!

Speaking of summer, I wrote a little something about some of my fav local bloggers and you're on the list! http://birminghamfashionblog.blogspot.com/2012/07/feeling-little-blog-love-tonight.html

LOVE this outfit and the pictures are gorgeous! My husband loves Always Sunny, but we never seem to know when it's on. And seriously, BFF, I read wikipedia entries for fun. I never knew there was someone else out there that does that. I have a lot of useless knowledge, mostly on random things like vampires. Haha, I can't believe I just wrote that. :)

Perfect outfit for the 4th! I saw that skirt yesterday in ON. Where is that sculpture? I would love to take some pictures of it.

I hate to tell you, but I seriously dislike It's Always Sunny Philadelphia. My fiance LOVES it!

Awwww, thank you! I am so glad to know there are others out there reading Wikipedia. I mean literally every night before bed I just fall down the rabbit hole which is Wikipedia!

So many cool places on that campus for photos. And I'm a little addicted to photo collages now!

Yes! $100 Baby! That show makes me want to pee my pants! My favorite is when Charlie writes the musical :)

Thank you, Jenny! Trying to get artsy over here ;)

Looking good, lady! I absolutely love the chevron skirt. I finished my 30 days of dresses, and I am sorely lacking in skirts, so I've found a new thing I want to collect 30 of! (ending sentence in a preposition = bad, bad, Sarah.)

Love that outfit! And it's definitely perfect for the 4th. =) I have a confession, I sneaked a peek at your swimsuit photo shoot. Shh... You look awesome! That suit is soo cute! I applaud your bravery. Stepping in front of the camera in a swimsuit, at any size, is a scary thought. I think I'd almost rather be naked instead. You know, distract them with 'the goods'. haha You rock, Katie!! Can't wait for your post tomorrow. : )

You just made me want to watch "Meet Me In St. Louis". If you like musicals at all, it is a must!

Hems for Her, a.k.a. Katie said...

I need to add it to my netflix queue! I love a good musical!

Hems for Her, a.k.a. Katie said...

It has faded to a funky lavender/lilac color- I need to get another picture of it!

Hems for Her, a.k.a. Katie said...

Thanks, Catie! I thought you might sneak a peek and that's fine- thanks for saying I look awesome! I was nervous at first, but then I just went with it (even though at one point there were at least ten people just hanging out watching- no one asked what we were doing, just watched!)

I'm not going to take off any points! Sometimes there's no other way to end a sentence! I think collecting 30 skirts is a great idea, and this is a great skirt to add to the collection!

Thank you, Savannah! The sculpture is by the Alys Stephens Theatre at UAB. Very cool free-standing stuff out there. And I won't hold it against you for not liking Sunny- some people just don't and I get that!

That's funny. They probably thought you were a model doing a shoot for something. Yeah, I guess once I relaxed I'd have fun with it. She took some gorgeous pictures. In a few of those your look stunning!!

You should seriously consider doing plus size modeling. You are a beautiful plus size model as is. Try it. Your poses are also great.

This is probably one of my favorite outfits of yours of all time! I mean, I really love it! Red, white, and blue looks fabulous with your hair color too! That metal piece is AMAZING! I've got to get down there and do photos!
Ran loves Always Sunny! I'm learning. There are some epis that make me literally laugh out loud and some that I'm like.....

Birmingham has some cool places for sure, but there are so many spots in Anniston I want to hit! Something new for both of us!

Sunny can be hit and miss, I'll give you that! And you know you are welcome to my closet anytime!

Good! I was definitely worried!

Oh, Maria, you flatter! I think I am too short and too old to model, but that was my childhood dream. Maybe I can find something local just for fun!

Thank you! I love skirts, except for the chub rub ;)

Thank you Sarah!

Thank you! I'm hoping it can transition into not so patriotic for every day wear!

I love to "meet" other Wikipedia readers!

I do love a good nautical look. I just wish I could find some cool anchor stuff in my size!
