I imagine (because that's the closet I will ever get) that Olympic athletes know exactly what I am talking about. Yes, my Olympic obsession continues. They are standing on the edge of greatness or the precipice of failure- these things are decided in seconds. For the rest of us, our calm before the storm may take longer, but the possibilities are the same.
This is my calm before the storm. One week before school starts back. Every year it's so tough to get back in the groove, just one of the reasons I wish my school would go to a year-round calendar. I dread this week more than the actual first day of school. This is when the nightmares begin, the anxiety returns, the storm clouds gather overhead. You've never had a nightmare till you have a teacher nightmare about an out-of-control classroom.
Eventually the storms blow over. The skies clear. The sun comes out. But in these final moments, I try to embrace the calm, the still, the quiet.

The calm before the storm. That is SO true! My son attends an online charter school, so some of the stresses are entirely absent, but getting him back into the school routine is always difficult, and this year is his first year of high school. I'm absolutely quaking in my boots because I simply don't know what to expect, and I always dread it anyway because I have to go back to being the mean old lady that makes him do all his homework! LOL
I am right there with you. I was just sitting here thinking of all the things I wanted to do but didn't. Trying to decide how I want to spend my last week.... Have a great week
Love that mint green top on you! Ah, the week before school starts. Obviously never been a teacher, but I can tell you as a student I dreaded that week SO much. I would have nightmares about being naked at school, forgetting what classes I was taking, going into the wrong room. Hang in there! And do some back-to-school shopping to make the 'storm' a bit more bearable :)
that is cute on you... great set of colors, and looks cool and comfy for warm summer weather. which is very much a need when it comes to summer fashion...
Wow, you start so early! We're not until the last week in August, and that's just teacher in-service. Our kids don't come in until after Labor day. I always have to gradually get myself back into the habit of waking up super early for school...8...7:30...7...:6:30...and on and on until I can be functioning.
Also, the nightmares! You don't have your papers, you're in the wrong classroom, the students are HORRIBLE, they assigned you the wrong subject...*shudder*
Good luck getting ready for going back! =)
School starts in one week!? WOW. Where did the summer go?? Well I hope you take full advantage of your last week and enjoy it! :)

I forgot how early school starts in the south! I am looking forward to seeing your professional outfits again, so there's always that to look forward to:) Enjoy your last week of summer!
It is so hard to find that color. It looks great on you. I am starting to think that Forever21 may actually have a few options for us curvy girls. I will have to check it out next time I am at a mall.
Schools are starting today, here. Budget cuts have left me trying to find a new place to do my teacher thing. I'm missing the kids already!
Enjoy your last week as much as you can!
Love that sea foam green on you!
We've got two weeks before school starts. I homeschool my two kids and they will be in 2nd grade and preschool this year. I kind of feel like the storm has already hit because I'm gathering up the last of the materials that we need for the fall semester and figuring out lesson plans. Plus, this is the first year that we'll have legal guidelines and requirements to follow so I'm a little stressed about that.
Beautiful outfit! Enjoy your last week before school! Summer sure went by fast!
I remember having those same feelings as a student. . .it was awful! Plus, my Mom's a teacher so I see her go through the same thing every year. Hang in there, it will be over soon!

I can understand your feelings. Its hard to get back to work after taking a week off much less a whole summer...Good luck :)
It did! It always does :( Thank you so much, Calli!
It's always nerve-wracking when you have new curriculum and guidelines to follow. Just extra stress to face. I know you will do great!
I think Forever21+ has a few great items- not nearly as much as the straight side, sadly, but I've gotten a few gems there!
Good luck this year!
Ugh! Right? They kids don't come back till the 20th, which is actually 3 weeks later than usual. The state passed a new law that we couldn't start more than two weeks before Labor Day.
Summer disappeared in naps, and SVU marathons, and lunch date for me!
Where do you teach? We just had a law passed that the earliest we can start is two weeks before Labor Day, so this is the first time in year that we aren't starting the first week of August (our original inservice date before the law passed was July 31), so this has been a little extra summer treat!
Definitely got to stay cool! Thanks, Andrew!
I think only "good" students have those kinds of anxiety dreams- I know I did! I always had this awful fear of going to the wrong classroom. That fear followed me to college and grad school! Freaks!
I do the same thing every year! Ugh! I hope you have a good one too Christy!
Teachers are my heros! Thank you for everything you do!!! P.S. - love the simplicity of the outift and the cut of the skirt on you!

The routine is definitely tough, and I would think even tougher when it's computer and home-based. I wouldn't have gotten anything done! Don't worry! I have to turn into a mean old lady too!
Thank you Annie! I intend to eat too much, sleep too much, and watch too much TV!
I love how casual and comfy this outfit is, it's perfect for how you're feeling. Enjoy your last week of vacation bliend!
I love that color! :) What a comfy chic look!

I can only imagine how hard it must be to try to tame crazy classrooms and problematic students. Keep your head up high, I'm sure you will do great. Try to enjoy your last week of vacations!
