I am not going to turn this blog into a constant whiny, rant-filed journal, but I do want to say that yesterday sucked. Not going back to school, that was fine. But I probably should have visited my room this summer because right now it is the stinkiest, smelliest place ever. I'm thinking some of our torrential downpours must have leaked in. Couple that with the ancient carpet I have in there and the fact that it's been closed up since May, and you can imagine it's pretty gross. I can only shudder to imagine what's growing under the carpet!
So I won't be in this outfit very long today, but what I will be wearing to clean my room will not be nearly as glamorous. Could you love these shoes anymore than I do? Aren't they awesome? They were on sale last week at Urban Outfitters and I was feeling a little glum so I indulged in some retail therapy. Now I guess it's time to indulge in some candles. Or a carpet cleaner!

Oh no, Katie, I hope you're able to get the smell out! Are the other rooms just as bad?
I LOVE your mint wedges! Nothing makes a girl feel better like retail therapy :)

Oh that's AWFUL! Is there any possibility of getting the carpet cleaned? Your kids with asthma or allergy problems aren't going to enjoy it any more than you do, I'm sure. On a more upbeat note-I could not have resisted those shoes either, they are TOO cute!
Can imagine how angry you are- hope nothing serious under the carpet:))Love the look, shoes are awesome!!!

I hope you can get the smell out soon! That stinks (har har).
Love those wedges, definitely a great retail therapy splurge :)
Your outfit is very pretty.
I hope you raise a 'big stink' with the management for you room! Sounds like a health and safety issue and they should get you in a new room asap.

I always kept a can of Febreeze spray in my desk. My classroom was over the kitchen, and it always smelled like whatever it was we were having for lunch. Sometimes it was great, something, not so much! (Taco Salad, anyone?)
I love your shoes, and your outfit. You look great!
I adore those shoes! Oh no about your classroom, I hope you were able to get the smell and grossness out. You look so pretty in black and mint! :)

Aw....as a fellow 10th grade teacher, I FEEL YOUR PAIN. My classroom is where I spend so much of my day, I would hate to have it smell and feel bad. Aside from knowing I would have to deal with the scintillating comments from my sophomores: "Eww...what smells?" "I can't work, it smells!" "Can I work in the hallway?" Lord love 'em. I live in mortal fear that some kid is going to throw up in my carpeted room someday...I periodically remind the kids that feeling nauseous allows you to flee the room without asking. Good luck with your cleaning...Here's hoping you have windows that open ;)
aw I 'm so sorry bliend and if I lived closer I would have come and helped you clean up! However your pre-cleanup outfit is beyond FIERCE! Def one of my fave looks on you!!
I know you would have! You are the best kind of bliend (except you are too far away!)
Yes! You know exactly what's going on. My room is usually funky because of the carpet (long story, but it's the only room in the entire building with carpet) so I really lay it on with the candles and sprays, but you know how easily distractable teens are! My windows have been open since 8:00 AM yesterday and will remain open until the stink is gone!
I love these shoes too! Still working on the smelly grossness though!
Gross, a kitchen classroom would be pretty awful most of the time! I love the room sprays by Bath and Body Works too. Very potent!
Believe it or not I am actually very meek and mild! I talk a big talk, but I'm actually a big old chicken ;)
Wait till you see the other two pairs I bought! Hey, what can I say? I was pretty despondent ;)
As always your wit charms me!
I can only imagine how disgusting that floor is under the carpet. Gross! And thank you, Elena!
They are working on it, and you are right- it could be very unhealthy!
These shoes, these shoes. Wish I would have found them earlier in the summer!
Just mine. I happen to be the only room in the building with carpet (long story) and it's old and gross. I see a lot of retail therapy in my future ;)
Bought some this afternoon- that will definitely help- as well the thirty pounds of baking soda I left on the floor overnight. At least I hope it helps!
Thank you so much, Crystal!
I am still working on it, but I think I am being a trooper about it!
Love the pop of color with the black dress! I would love to have shoes like that. Sorry that your classroom smells. Hopefully you'll be able to get rid of the smell by the time the students are back. Good luck!
LOVE this outfit. That dress is super flattering and I love the pops of turquoise! I hate when rooms smell weird. One of the hotels I stayed in this week smelled really strange, and we couldn't identify the source of the odor. At least yoou have some time to clean it up before the kids head back.
Ah, sucks about the room! Hope it starts turning around soon! I LOVE those wedges! So, so cute!
Not gonna lie... that sounds kind of gross. I wish you luck with the cleaning! In the meantime, I'll admire your gorgeous shoes and stunning ensemble here. (:
Sorry about the room! We have pretty much the same weather so I know what youre fighting against....You look lovely though. Those shoes are insane!!!
Oh no Katie!! That's terrible! Well at least you look like one hot momma in these pix, even if the rest of the day is spent in sweat and a T while cleaning your carpet. ; ) I'll keep my fingers crossed that the smell is gone before the kids come!
Sorry I've been soo bad about commenting lately. I have read every single great post in the past week or so. I just love you and your blog! Once schools starts I'll be back to posting regularly. It's just too much for me when the girls are home, plus the two little ones I look after a couple days a week.
Ugh! I know that smell its so gross! I hope you can get the janitor to clean it up for you. As your your wedges, out of sight! I love the mint green color. Hope today wasnt as stinky as yesterday!
Oh that just sounds horrible! Not a good way to start out, lots of work, and definitely concerning. Sorry :( But on the plus side those heels knock my socks off.

Thank you, Giovanna! I am pretty much head over heels with them!
It's getting a little better every day! The heels definitely made me feel better ;)
Seriously, our janitors think they are only supposed to clean the halls and the bathrooms. It's one of my biggest pet peeves. Look I wouldn't want to do that for a living either, but come on!
The kids will NOT stand for a stinky room and they can be SOOOO overly dramatic about it! And you are fine. I have had to slow way down with school starting back! So sad :(
I am so proud of these shoes. I mean I wish I could have thrifted them, but it was still worth it!
You don't have to lie! It's definitely gross. That's why I'm scowling in the photos!
Thank you so much, Andrea!
Thank you so much! Yes, it's very annoying to have a smelly room. It stunk up the hallways in the top floor of the school. It was seriously bad. Everyone was walking around, grimacing and complaining and I just wanted to die!
Thank you Savannah! I have been laying down baking soda every afternoon and then vacuuming it up in the mornings and it's helping.
Bad day or not....you totally rock this gorgeous outfit Katie!
