In the Park

I always love when I get to meet my sister for photos. The conversation goes like this:

Me: "Hey, can you take pictures of me today? Please."
Des: "Yeah! I know the coolest place!"

I've written about my little sister before, but I swear we are the perfect complements for each other. She's the yin to my yang, the peanut butter to my jelly, the ketchup to my fries, whatever, you get it. She directed me to a street that I've passed a million times and never even noticed. And on that street- this cool abandoned fountain. I guess at some point this must have been a small, park-type area, but now it's an idyllic island among the hustle and bustle of suburbia. It definitely seems out of place.

Button-down Shirt- Old Navy (last year, similar)
Denim Pencil Skirt- Old Navy
Wedges- Kohl's

Des is always good at finding cool places and cool angles, and I love the time we get to spend together- even if it is just a few minutes. I love how through her eyes I can see beyond what's there- does that make sense? I would try to say she elevates the ordinary to extraordinary, but I don't really like quoting from Fifty Shades of Gray. Oops, too late.

And now we are all uncomfortable... Happy Friday!

I always wanted a sister when I was young, I've got a brother and I totally adore him but I always thought having a sister would be so much fun! Sounds like I was right, I'd love to have someone to take my outfit photos! This location is beautiful, I love finding little abandoned bits around town. You look lovely too, that shirt is lovely xo

That fountain area was redone while we lived in town, just 2 houses down from that fountain. I remember the "ceremony." Great pictures Katie!

And that fountain is only a house away from your husband's childhood home :) You look great! Happy Friday!!

Hey Katie! I love all your recent outfits. Where did you get the zebra cardi?

I was sad to read your post about the hater on FB. What an a**hole!! You're right to not dwell on the comments. I always find the hater comments, on any site, ridiculous. They just make themselves sound stupid and petty. Why would anyone bother to take the time to write means things? They must have a pretty boring life it that 'does it' for them. You're a beautiful person inside and out! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. =)

You're through the second week of school already, right? How's it going? My girls head back on Tuesday! Oh, did you finish the 50 Shades trilogy? My favorite book was the last one. Looking forward to the movies. ; ) Have a great weekend!!

Oh Katie, you have made me miss my little sister! We haven't lived in the same city in almost 7 years, and before that she spent a lot of time abroad as an exchange student. It is unlikely we will ever live near each other again and sometimes that really kills me!

What a fun location! And I love seeing you in a neutral palette every once in awhile. :)

Yay for a new photo location! Sometimes it takes someone else to see something that was right in front of our eyes the whole time :) And I now want french fries thanks your analogy, haha. Have a great weekend, Katie!

My sis is camera crazy but she loves to use the camera for evil...lol. It was a sad day for our family when she joined Facebook at age 45.

Love the color of that shirt, and I'm a fan of dark denim skirts.

Awww, that's so great that you have such a wonderful relationship with your sister. That location is definitely great for these beautiful photos. I always wish I had a sister, but instead was stuck with a stinkin' brother. Just kidding, my brother and I are very close, but I just wish I had someone who I could talk fashion and boys with! :)

Brothers are definitely different, although my sister would kill me if she had to go shopping with me!

Ha! Both my sister and I are always trying to take photos of our mom. She is the queen of hiding from the camera or having her eyes closed!

I am following you now too, and looking for affordable nude oxfords thanks to you! :)

Every once in a while I gotta bust out the ANTM to make sure I still got it!! ;)
Also some of your comments just will not post from Disqus. I don't know why, but I didn't want you to think I was ignoring them!

Very pretty late summer blooming.

Right? It's so cool when it's just totally random.

That's what makes her so great- she's very artistic. And I totally had to get fries Friday night! Yummy!

Awwww, that's so sad. I can't imagine not living close to my sister. It would definitely be tough!

That zebra cardigan is so old... I got it at Cato's. I did find a few alternatives online though.

I agree that trolling individuals always seem completely ridiculous. I don't get it. I guess they just want to hurt people and piss people off. Losers.

Second week was really good. My classes are great. Knock on wood!

It is cool to find random things in your own city!

And at least you gave your daughters some sisters to grow up with. Nothing like a sister!

Sisters are great. You fight hard, but you love harder!
