Meet & Greet

Last night was "Meet the Teacher" night at Sean's preschool, aka "There Goes All Our Money" night. Wow! Kids' extracurricular activities start costly and just get more and more expensive every year. My own "Meet the Teacher" will be here before I know it, so this was good practice for talking to strangers and not being completely awkward!

Top- Forever 21 Jeans- Gap Flats- Express

I cannot tell you how long I have been searching for something apple-printed that wasn't either too small or too expensive, so I was head over heels when I saw this top online at Forever 21. Even though it's not in my list of Fashion Must Haves for fall, I couldn't resist the sweet print and the even sweeter price!

I admit I was a little wary of the Peter Pan collar (seems a little young to me), but unbuttoning it seemed to loosen it up a little. I liked pairing it with the boyfriend jeans for a casual look, but I will definitely be tucking it into a pencil skirt for work, and maybe even for my own Meet the Teacher" night!

How flippin cute is this top! At first I thought it was cherries - but I love it even more now knowing they are little apples.. too too cute and it's perfect with those shoes :)

I have a pattern that has a peter pan collar and flutter sleeves and I've been going back and forth about making it up, but I think I'll do it! The collar style doesn't look at all little girlish as I thought it would, it just looks crisp and finished off. In a soft fabric it'll look really nice. (I have to admit I'm glad it's not just me that gets those little ribbon hanging loops sticking out the front of my blouse! LOL!)

Apple print on a teacher!?! Too cute! There was an apple print dress at Target...but if I tried to bend over even a little all my goodies showed. Apple print is supposed to be cute and whimsical, not slutty...haha.

I love this outfit! I have felt the same way about the peter pan collar, but you pull it off wonderfully. But what I want to know is where did you get those shoes? They are fabulous and I have been looking for a pair of red flats...

Love this outfit. That apple print is adorable and the shoes are perfect with the blouse. I can see the top working really well with a pencil skirt and cardigan for work.

The red really suits you.

Adorable outfit! :) I tend to steer clear from peter pan collars, too, but I think this one is not so noticeable because it's the same print as the top (vs. being a solid color). I like that you left it unbuttoned, too. This top will look splendid tucked into a pencil skirt for work. :)

Ha! Ironically I sit here in my just-came-in-the-mail apple-print shirt that I am so excited to wear on the first day of school! Lol. Yours is adorable too. Peter Pan collars can be hard, but I think your worked it well.

Love it! Where did you get yours from? My room is all modern apples and reds and greens... I just love apples as decoration. I can't help it!

I know, right? I almost look professional! ;)

Hems for Her, a.k.a. Katie said...

I think you are exactly right! I didn't think about that. And I will absolutely be pairing it with a pencil skirt :)

Sorry! I did edit this but just in case... I got them at Express last year. I am really hoping they realize more colors this year. Like you I looked FOREVER for red flats before finding them last fall!

Hems for Her, a.k.a. Katie said...

Thank you! You too :)

The trick to a picture like that is having your 6'4" husband stand on his tip-toes above you!

Hems for Her, a.k.a. Katie said...

Sorry! I got them from Express last year for under $30. I looked for red flats for months before running across them. I hope they offer them again this year!

Yay! I love to meet more apple print lovers! Thanks so much, Crystal!

I think I could get into whimsical prints if I get this kind of response every time! Thank you, Jenny! So much!

Hems for Her, a.k.a. Katie said...

That's the problem I tend to have with apple stuff, and I am always so sad! You are right... Apples should remind you of Snow White not a stripper!

Hems for Her, a.k.a. Katie said...

Thanks so much! I was pretty excited about this casual outfit!

Hems for Her, a.k.a. Katie said...

Thanks, Kathy! First good hair day in weeks!

Hems for Her, a.k.a. Katie said...

After I looked at these pictures I was so aggravate at my husband! I asked him why he didn't tell me they were hanging out and he said, "Oh, I thought they were part of the outfit..." Men!!

Hems for Her, a.k.a. Katie said...

I thought it was cherries when I first saw it online, and when I realized it was apples, I was seriously thrilled! Thank you so much!

You think it's bad now, wait 'till high school. I dread the $250 band fee coming due in three weeks :(

Cute blouse, and lovely flats. I get frustrated trying to find things in local F21 stores but love the jewelry.

What a sweet print and so appropriate for you! I love it. Since I struck out with the peplum my next fashion try will be the peter pan collar. Hopefully it looks ok! Happy weekend bliend!

Love, love, love this outfit! Are you ready for school to start back for your own students?

Catie said...

Soo cute! You should definitely wear that on the first day. Is Sean excited? When does school start there? Here it starts on Sept. 4th. My baby will be in 1st grade. Gone ALL day!! How did this happen? lol We've already paid about $230 before the end of last school year for this school year's lunch time supervision fee and after school starts we'll be hit with another $100 in school fees!

Hope you had a good weekend and your wifi is working again! =)
