Tunesday Tuesday: "Cherish"

"Cherish the thought /Of always having you here by my side /Cherish the joy/You keep bringing it into my life /Cherish your strength/ You got the power to make me feel good (and baby I)/Perish the thought/Of ever leaving, I never would" Madonna- "Cherish"

Take a deep breath. Whew. We made it through the first day relatively unscathed. The jury's still out on how the year will be though- it's still too soon to make a safe judgment ;) When I picked this outfit out for this week, I wasn't sure how it would look. I told you earlier in the month I wanted to concentrate on separates for fall and these were two pieces I've had for a while. I was very pleased with the effect of the ruffles on the blouse and the fullness of my beloved Old Navy skirt.

Last week while driving around town I heard Madonna's "Cherish" on the radio and I knew immediately that I wanted it to be my Tunesday Tuesday song for this week. It's such a fun song, but really the video is amazing! I don't think Madonna has ever looked more beautiful. AND mermen? What more could we possibly want from a video?!

Top- Cato's( similar) Skirt- Old Navy
Flats- Express Bracelet- Urban Outfitters (similar)
Necklace and Earrings- IN Pink

A quick read of Wikipedia (my go-to for all information as you know) uncovered that the mermen were actually water polo players, which explains A LOT especially if you watched any water polo during the Olympics. The tails were pretty functional and they were able to swim with a great deal of agility. If you decide to read the Wikipedia article I would stop there because it get really weird after that- talking about the symbolism of mermen among other things. Kinda ruined it for me! You've been warned!

Love this outfit! If I had walked into your classroom in highschool I probably would have guessed you were a cool teacher for wearing leopard print. I love animal prints for the transition between summer and fall.

I LOVE that song!! I actually really love any Madonna song from the 80's! Wow, you definitely have to be the best dressed teacher at your school! I can't remember ever having a teacher that was dressed to stylishly!

Cute outfit! I NEED leopard print flats! I looked all over earlier this year and never found the right pair, maybe I will this Fall.

Hope you have a great second day!! How many students do you see through the day? And props to you for working out yesterday!!! I did not. *head down is shame* I'll make sure to do something today.

Oh, love ol' school Madonna. But I can't stand her newer music.

I absolutely LOVE this look! I'm glad you had a great start to the school year. I totally know what you mean though as far as it being to soon to tell if it'll be a great year! Good Luck and I hope it is a great year for you!

Oh, I bet she puts on a great concert. I remember watching the beginning of one of her filmed for HBO concerts YEARS ago with my family, and then topless Asian girls came down from the roof being all sexual and my parents lost it!

Thank you! I layered with a cardigan, but I get so hot and sweaty during the day, it's not even funny so I need the sleeveless option.

Thanks, Lisa!

You will see those leopard flats A LOT in the fall. I live in them :) The first cassette I remember ever buying/owning was Michael Jackson's "Off the Wall"- talk about feeling old!

I looked all over last year and really lucked out. I was so excited. I love them.

I teach five classes of approximately 25, and I sponsor the school newspaper. It's not too bad. I am trying to get everyone's names down by the end of the week! And I worked out today ;)

Yay! I love it too, and like you said, anything else early-Madonna. Well, I don't mean to brag, but I am totally the best dressed teacher :) It's funny though how it rubs off on other people. Our hall is super stylish, and many of them say they are trying to keep up with me!

Hems for Her, a.k.a. Katie said...

Right? That's what I hope at least... although we have some older teachers that wear animal prints in a non-fashionable way (you know what I mean?) and the kids make fun of them!

Hems for Her, a.k.a. Katie said...

That's a great combination :)

I'm going to tell you- my tenth grade girls just *seem* mean, you know what I mean? Hostile almost. I mean I am playing get to know you games and you look like you want to kick me in the face. Hoping they warm up a little!

I hope you are having a good start! Can't wait to hear :)
