| The original John Lennon Sketch |
Have no fear,
The monsters gone,
He's on the run and your daddy's here,
Beautiful,
Beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,
Before you go to sleep,
Say a little prayer,
Every day in every way,
It's getting better and better,
Beautiful,
Beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,
Out on the ocean sailing away,
I can hardly wait,
To see you to come of age,
But I guess we'll both,
Just have to be patient,
Yes it's a long way to go,
But in the meantime,
Before you cross the street,
Take my hand,
Life is just what happens to you,
While your busy making other plans,
Beautiful,
Beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,
Darling,
Darling,
Darling Sean.
So that is one of my favorite John Lennon songs, mostly because it's abo
I did a ton of searching and found a sketch I loved, except the boy had "his" Sean's straight black hair, and I thought this would be perfect if I could get a tattoo artist to rework it with some crazy blonde hair. The opportunity presented itself today and 30 minutes later, I had it.
Guys, I am so in love with this particular tattoo. It is by far my favorite and so special to me. Sean is at such a magical age right now; everything he does or says it so cute or so smart or so funny. He is the MOST BEAUTIFUL child ever! I just can't imagine life without him. It has been a really tough summer. I have been in classes four nights a week and most Saturdays, so I rarely see him. Thankfully Curtis takes lots of video and tells lots of great stories. I feel like I miss so much, and I know in a couple of years, it will be worth it, but it's hard to think that far ahead when you are right in the middle of it. I've been very discouraged lately, trying to balance school and work and family.
Sean is twenty-one months old... do you still use months at this age? His vocabulary has to be over 100 words, and the things he says are sometimes full sentences. The other day at a very fancy bridal shower (Love you Sara B!), he was admiring all the knickknacks in this museum of a house, admiring them in a very physical way, and he caught me looking at him and he said, in all seriousness, "Don't touch!" I was so impressed; I assumed he got it. Well, next thing you know he's running around with this probably 2000 year old box, yelling "Mine! Mine! MINE!" Oh well.
He loves brushing his teeth and elephants and cars and trucks. He's learning colors, but everything tends to be "blue." He will blow goodbye kisses to anyone.

Awww I love this... so many people get tattoos for no apparent reason (Ie, my boyfriend was drunk on spring break.. nice..) So I love that you put so much thought behind yours and it's about your adorable little guy :)

That is so unique and wonderful! what a beautiful piece of art to remember that time with your boy.
I got each of my children's names and a number of other tattoos. I have a tiny heart on my back I was thinking of re-working, it is mine and my husband's initials in it. I want to make it look like the heart is "carved" into a tree, and then designing the tree around it. the tree will be our small family tree.
It's such a unique, special tattoo and I love all the thought and care that went into it. It's so cute how it's personalized with Sean's curly hair. You should frame those lyrics in his room :)
Lovely story, Katie. He's such a little cutie pie with his big eyes and curls. Your tattoo was so intentional and I love that. Its not just a cool thing to have...it has genuine meaning to you and you will never regret it.
OMG, what an awesome tattoo!! This post is so sweet and the story is so lovely!!

Beautiful story, Katie! I love tattoos that are personal and unique. I've had one planned for 4 years, but I pass out when I get blood drawn or shots so it hasn't happened yet.
I saw the Lennon exhibit and fell deeply in love with his artwork. I would have loved to purchase a print. I think you new tattoo is amazing - what an awesome idea!
This is so wonderful! I love personal stories related to tats and this one is so special. I wish that I had the gumption to get any of the body art that I've dreamed up, but like @Tashia_HipsandHangers:disqus , I am weak when it comes to needles and pain!
Thanks for sharing this with us. :)

That is so sweet Katie! I have been racking my brain trying to think of something to get for my kiddo. I love you tattoo!
That tattoo is so cute! I love it! I never worked up the courage to get a tattoo in my younger years, and now that I am looking down the barrel at 30, I feel like it's not the time. So no butterfly tramp stamp? or Chinese symbol that doesn't mean what you wanted it to mean?

katie, i love this story. i love when people think out their tattoos, rather than get them impulsively (like i did when i was 19). it's a beautiful tattoo and story. he sounds like an amazing kid!!
Well, I have a few that weren't as thought out, so I am with you there. I did get my first tattoo(got it when I was 18 and clueless) covered last year with probably my favorite tattoo to date. I'll share that next week!
No butterflies and no Chinese symbols... somehow I avoided all of that! But I do kinda have a lower back tattoo :/ I defend myself from the tramp stamp because it's not 1. butterfly or 2. tribal! ;)
I left room in case I decided to have another child, but that's not gonna be an issue!
Awww, thank you!
It's not for the weak of heart. I mean I don't think anyone likes getting shots or having blood taken, but if you have serious issues, then yeah, you probably shouldn't, but at the same time I am a total wuss and I feel like if I can handle a tattoo than anyone can!
We loved the entire exhibit too! It was so awesome. Maybe one day we can both afford a print!
Yeah... you probably shouldn't. That being said, I always get queasy and dizzy with shots and blood, but I've managed to get tattooed, so it can be done. It's mind over matter I think (says the girl who puked getting her ears pierced!)
Thank you, Jenny!
I try to make anything permanent meaningful, but I haven't had to explain the mustache tattoo on my finger yet! ;)
The lyrics thing is such a good idea. I wish I had thought of that when he was a baby for his nursery, so it could have been up all these years!
Thank you, Ashleigh!
WEll, I do still have to share the story of my mustache tattoo, so I can't say I've put a lot of thought into all of them! ;)
This tattoo is super adorable and very unusual-love it! The old post about 10 things was great!
Kisses
