Romance Reigns

Yesterday Curtis and I celebrated our ninth wedding anniversary (here's last year's post about our relationship), and it was such a great day. Not to get mushy, but seriously, you guys, getting to celebrate waking up every day with your best friend is awesome, right?

At this point in the game, we are over trying to out romance each other. Sometimes the little things matter more. I made him breakfast. He went out late Wednesday night to buy bananas because I was out and couldn't make my green smoothie. We had a laid back dinner last night (my mom kept Sean), roamed Barnes and Noble, and came home to crash on the couch. Who says romance is dead?

Kiyonna Lace Top
Wide Leg Trouser Jeans (same, similar, similar)
Wedges (OLD, but similar and similar)
Speaking of romance, isn't this lace top the very definition of romance? I have struggled with how to wear it, and I couldn't be more pleased with how this combination turned out. If you don't own a pair of wide leg trouser jeans then you are truly missing out. They automatically add polish to a simpler outfit or they can balance out pieces that are a little over the top.

A word of caution with wide leg trouser jeans: watch your proportions! When you are wearing something so voluminous on your bottom half, you want to balance that out with a closer fitting top. Also unless you are just blessed with mile-long legs ( so jealous of you!), you will have to have these pants hemmed, but it is so worth it. Some really stylish women buy two pairs- one is hemmed to wear with heels and the other with flats. Now that's a great idea!

I'm feeling like I could say way more about wearing and styling trouser jeans... I'm thinking a separate post. What do you think?

I am 5'2", so I usually buy two pairs depending on the jeans (and slacks as well) Skinnies aren't skinny with 6 inches of leg scrunched at your ankle. I think trouser jeans work best worn long with heels. I adore your top! It's so romantic and simple. You look seriously happy, and that's what counts!

Happy anniversary! That lace top is gorgeous. I stay away from the trouser jeans since I'm so petite but they look great on you. Happy Friday!

Happy Anniversary! Glad your mom could take the little one so you could have a relaxing night together. That top is fantastic and might be what I spend my Kiyonna credit on :)

What do I think? I think you are looking amazing! I love this outfit, but I also love that you're looking so happy and healthy. Also, I'm going to dig out my trouser jeans this afternoon and put together an outfit to take to L.A. next week. :)

It was really great to have some couple time! It's a good invest piece- always the Gigi Lace dress is pretty much the top in dress form!

Happy belated anniversary! Almost at 10 years, so crazy! And you two are so lucky to have one another...it's not everyone who gets to find and then marry their best friend!

I'm loving this top on you. Suits your complexion beautifully and it's really balanced nicely with those trousers. I think you should definitely do a separate post on trousers - I've never even thought of having two separate pairs for different shoes, so smart though!

I'm considering buying this based on this post; how did you find the fit to run on this top?

Hems for Her, a.k.a. Katie said...

Hi! This is a tricky top. The wrap feature makes it very adjustable for different sized chests, but the lace sleeves have little stretch. I have pretty meaty upper arms and a 36DD chest and the 1 fit perfectly. Hope that helps... And the customer service at Kiyonna is great. They will definitely answer any questions or give measurements to you!
