Recently I discovered a local networking organization called See Jane Write. It's a group of like-minded awesome women writers in my hometown, and the creator Javacia had put together a panel discussion on community journalism and the role of bloggers. I was so impressed with Javacia's dedication and the hard work she has put into this group. It was inspiring to sit in a room full of women (and some awesome men as well) passionate about writing. It reminded me of my college journalism classes, only way, way cooler.
And I was way better dressed. And maybe slightly buzzed from a high gravity beer from a local brewery. And nervous as hell.
Can I tell you that when it boils right down to it, I am the biggest chicken! I am socially awkward and very nervous in new situations. And I sweat. Not like armpit sweating, but forehead sweating. Lots of it. In nerve-wracking situations, I start sweating like a marathon runner. It's really embarrassing. But we are friends, right?

| Dress- Eloquii Shoes- Forever 21 |
I may have been nervous as hell and glistening with lady dew, but I looked AWESOME. I borrowed this eloquii dress from the ladies at Gwynnie Bee (here's my intro post), and I didn't want to send it back. I loved it that much. However, since they have my home address, I figured I better send it back. Don't worry- no pit stains!

You look beautiful! And that hair----Loved meeting you at Belk Spring Fashion 2013!
that dress is gorgeous and so are you! Each time I see a pic of you with your awesome hair, I think about going short too. It's cool that you found such a like minded group, I'm the same awkward mess socially so I feel you but that's just initial fuzz until you meet again. Everyone sweat fyi!
I love it on you, and that you paired it with the nude shoes. it works so well!

You looked quite lovely Thursday night. I'm so glad you came out to the event. You didn't seem socially awkward at all! It was great to meet you and I hope we can hang out soon.
I absolutely love the autumnal orange/navy color combo, but in my town, I'd be drawn and quartered for wearing it. Blah! Roll tide and all, but that combination is simply beautiful. And the cut of that dress does you just fine in allllll the right places!
I would have been nervous too.... I get so awkward in situations like that! (Unless I have a drink or two in me ;) ) Well you look great, and I'm sure everyone was distracted by your cute dress that they didn't notice the forehead dew!
That dress has such a gorgeous geometric print! I get super nervous too if I'm with people I don't know well.

I was debating if I wanted to add that dress to my GB closet or not! Love it on you:) Glad I'm not the only sweaty awkward duck. I don't get forehead sweats, but my feet and hands get discusting in intense social situations (shaking hands is the worst!).
What a fun opportunity! Well, it seems you looked FANTASTIC at it. I love this dress on you.
That dress is fantastic!
What a gorgeous dress....and I'm still loving your short hair!
I too am I big chicken in new situations. I am very shy when I dont know people so I can come off as standoffish but once I get comfortable, I cant stop running my mouth! LOL
Love, love, love this dress on you! Your style is evolving and I like it!!!
girl that dress looks amazing on you - I'm always so jealous of the dresses you have! And your networking panel sounds awesome. I'd love to be able to meet up with people in my area who are interested in blogging and so on but unfortunately we don't have tons of them around here :(
The cut, the color and fit of this dress is so beautiful on you! I love that you got to meet other fabulous folks who are passionate about writing!

I get SUPER armpit sweat when I get nervous. Luckily, I am always wearing a suit in court and the jacket hides any put stains. I love the cut of that dress. The waist hits in the perfect place.

Love this dress!! Sometimes I get so scared of all-over print and then I see someone rocking a great dress like this and I feel excited about print! I love the sleeve-length too.
I totally relate on the socially awkward front. I never know what to say and feel like a goober. I need to work on that.
Fab dress, Katie! I love the contrasting colors and the deep V! Very flattering for any woman. :D

Your hair cut is giving me life!!! Love this dress!
Love the pattern on that dress, as beautifully as you write it is hard to imagine you nervous talking about writing.
Girl, it's ridiculous. I am soooo socially awkward!
Ah, thank you!!!! I love it more every day=especially when I get brave enough to be funky with it!
Technically, I don't own that many dresses... most of these are from Gwynnie Bee. Though I'd really love to own this one!!
I either don't speak and look like a totally b- or like you said I get super nervous and start running my mouth ninety to nothing. We'd fit together perfectly!
It's *technically* red and navy, but I struggled with it. I wish it came in ANY other combo and I would absolutely buy it, but I got too many Auburn comments to wear it more than once!
