Easter

Okay, I can't lie to you. Technically, we celebrated Easter with my side of the family last weekend because we knew I was going to be out of commission for a little while. I had borrowed this beautiful dress from Gwynnie Bee, and I was not going to pass up the chance to wear it out. I have discovered that I absolutely LOVE the 1950s' full skirt silhouette this dress has. I want every dress I own to look like this one. If I could have found a pair of gloves I would have totally felt like Audrey Hepburn.

Spense Dress c/o Gwynnie Bee

Sean has so many cousins and extended relatives on my side of the family so the annual Easter egg hunt is always a chaotic, but joyful time. We always have a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny, though my nephew likes to tell everyone that it's not really the Easter Bunny, that it's a "sossume" (love the way little kids say things!)

This is another example of what great things Gwynnie Bee can do for your closet. I would have never have paid full-price for this dress to wear one time for Easter. We all have dresses like that- they stand out too much or they are too fancy for everyday wear. They languish all alone shoved into those deep, dark corners of your closet. They usually waste space and waste money. But with Gwynnie Bee's "Clothing without Commitment" philosophy, you will never run into this problem again. What do you do with fancy, special occasion dresses?

I donate them OR if I really love them I turn them into quilts, like I did with all of my Daughter's special occasion dresses were accumulated from birth to 5 years old. All the shiny fabrics make such a pretty quilt!
I love the bright colors and especially the buttons down the back, but I think I would wear this dress a few more times before sending it back. It's way too pretty not too! I hope you feel better!

The colours in the dress are so beautiful and bright. I also love that 50s silhouette - it's so flattering and I love the flirty fullness of the skirts. You probably already know this, but eshakti has a TON of stuff along that line, and with the bonus of being able to tweak size and length to your preference (I ordered a full skirt on the weekend, but obvs haven't got it yet....very anxiously awaiting).

Love the dress! You look fab in it. And I do love the idea of borrowing clothes for special occasions. I had so many dresses that just languished in my closet for years before I cleaned it out and donated them to a charity that rents dresses to underprivileged girls for things like homecoming and prom. The other thing is wedding dresses. We spend hundreds, sometimes thousands, of dollars on a gown we're going to wear for one day. And then what? So I wasn't surprised when I found out a lot of women sell their wedding dresses on ebay! That's where we bought my sister-in-law's wedding dress - she's a very full-figured girl and was having a hard time finding a dress she felt pretty in, and was on a very small budget. My mom stumbled across an INCREDIBLE wedding dress on ebay from a gal with the EXACT same body! It was like a miracle. Paid less than two hundred bucks for it. And it fit my sister-in-law flawlessly. She cried when she put it on. She had thought she would never have her dream wedding dress and thanks to ebay, she did.

Okay, wow, I started out to leave a short comment and then wrote you a book. LOL

You look lovely in this dress! I love the bright colors. So much fun! I am crazy about full skirts too. They don't make them often enough.

Gorgeous dress, Katie! That silhouette is so lovely on you - it's one of my favorites to wear as well. I always feel so glamorous and beautiful in such girly dresses! Sean looks so handsome, too, in his Easter outfit :) What a cutie.

A dress like that I would totally buy, but I know what you mean. I have a couple of Christmas type of holiday dresses that I have a hard time regularly incorporating into my regular wear. You look so pretty though and your son looks adorable.

Katie! I love this color on you! I am guilty of having a bit of an addiction to dresses...especially ones that are too fancy for everyday wear. I try to find new and different ways to style these types of dresses so that I can wear them more than just for special occasions. What happened to a time when these types of dresses were what women wore ALL the time. :) We should bring this trend back!
