New Post on XOVain

You guys, things have been crazy over here. It always is the last week of school. However, I didn't want to leave you empty-handed for our long weekend. Recently, I started freelancing with XOVain, a beauty website. Today they are featuring my article on OCM- Oil Cleansing Method for the non-initiated out there!

Check it out here!

This is what I clean my face with!

You know I'm all about natural remedies and beauty routines! I had no idea this was what you washed your face with - very cool! Congrats on another XOVain feature :)

I'm glad OCM works for you!

I've tried OCM but it just made my rosacea worse. Instead I use a castille soap cleanser made from coconut oil with some lavender and tea tree oil and my skin looks fantastic. I will occasionally moisturize with coconut or argan oil and exfoliate with baking soda.

Katie, I have exfoliated with baking soda but I have never tried the oil cleansing method. I read about it some time ago but I was skeptical. I mean, I have really, REALLY, oily skin. However, reading your article and looking at your glowing face in those shots, I'm convinced I have to give it a try! Do you think olive oil will work as well?

I am going to buy some African Black soap as soon as I find some. Have you heard of it? Supposed to be AMAZING!

Well, I highly recommend it!

Some people are fine with olive oil, but some find that it aggravates certain issues. I used it the first two months with no issues, but then I switched to grapeseed oil. Olive oil is very THICK (not necessarily a bad thing), and grapeseed felt much lighter on my skin. I have seen a dramatic decrease in my mid-day shininess for sure.

Here is the most AMAZING website ever for OCM: http://www.crunchybetty.com/trying-and-troubleshooting-the-oil-cleansing-method-tips-for-flawless-oil-cleansed-skin

What do you use to wash your face?

Katie Frost said...

I have. I cannot find it anywhere around here though. I'm a huge fan of the Shea Moisture brand anyway and have been scouring the shelves and even online for their African Black soap.

Great post! I use oils as a makeup remover too. I do it a little differently; I don't do the steaming and I do follow with a regular cleanser. But my (generally oily) skin seems quite happy! I use a blend of mineral/grapeseed/sometimes sweet almond oil, with some lavender essential oil added. Not all oil combos are right for everyone, it's very YMMV. I do think it can work for many people though! Thanks for sharing!
