What a Tease!

So, it's official... there is a monthly subscription box for everything! I don't currently subscribe to any of the big names like Birch Box or Stitch Fix, but when the brand-new subscription service Volupties contacted me about a review I was intrigued. FIrst, it's Pronounced Volup - "Tease". I mean how cute is that? Secondly, it's panties! I mean what hard-working woman couldn't use some new panties, right?  My drawer is currently overflowing with stretched out, old underwear, so I figured it couldn't hurt to try something new. Thirdly, Volupties is specifically for plus-size women, and I love to support companies supporting me.
If you are plus-size then you know most underwear is boring and functional- many places do not cater to bigger sizes. However, Volupties is searching out and creating relationships with plus-size companies. They are doing the shopping for me! In my first package, I received panties from Cacique (Lane Bryant), Aerie (American Eagle) and Hips and Curves (very exciting!). The prices range from $8- 15 per pair and they were all very cute and comfy and current (no clearance rack rejects!)! I was really impressed.

I love getting packages in the mail! Am I the only one? And I wouldn't feel guilty about spending the money because it's something functional, you know? If you want to try out Volupties, you can use the promo code VOLUPTIES and save $5 off your first month's order- so you can get three pair of name-brand underwear for $12!

So, ladies, am I missing out by not subscribing to these monthly boxes? What do you love?

My mind just keeps repeating, "A subscription for underwear?" over and over.

You basically don;t have to shop anymore, everything comes pre picked out in your mailbox! Joking aside, I can see how this is a good idea. Plus sized women already hate shopping for clothes. Underwear is probably MORE frustrating because the bigger it gets the less cute it is! So I think it's a great idea to receive it to your door, in your size and very cute. I wish I'd thought of that!

That looks like a great idea if you aren't seriously picky about underwear like I am. I am a cotton-only (infection issues), no lace, no thongs, full coverage over my butt, low rise (so it doesn't show over my jeans) underwear kind of woman. Which is remarkably difficult to find. If I could pick which styles I would or would not wear and work from there I would subscribe in a heartbeat.

I am signing up for this on payday!

I would love this! I'm in a similar boat as ballewal, though. I prefer no lace because, apparently, I don't know how to wash fancy underwear. :(

Hi Katie,

first of all, I love reading your blog and check for new posts on a daily basis, so please don't take this the wrong way, but I feel that lately your posts are a lot more about things you are trying to sell to your readers than about you. Of course you still present lovely outfits and styling choices, however, a lot of the posts also contain some sort of ad. I get that you're also making money off the blog, but I really miss the old posts where you posted an outfit and just talked about this and that without trying to push certain companies (besides Old Navy ;-), but that was unintentional and you weren't being paid for doing so).

Other than that I love your blog and really hope that you are not offended. I only noticed this and maybe it's not even true or I am too critical, but I thought I'd tell you anyway and let you decide what to do with this info.

Best
Sarah

I've been a reader for over a year and I've noticed this too. I really like Katie's style and like that she is plus size and shopped at places I could afford, like Old Navy and Catos. But lately it seems she's only wearing Gwennie B stuff. Don't get me wrong, it's cute stuff, but feels more like a sell than her personal style. I miss the old Katie.

I just signed up for volupties. If those are truly some of the brands they feature then I'll be extremely happy.

I hope so,Ashley!

I wish I had too, Ashleigh! And I agree with everything you say. As if we don't have enough frustrations when shopping!

Right? But I think it's kinda ingenious. I can throw out three old, worn-out pairs each month when I get a new delivery!

Proud of you! I think it helps us Plus size Girls to find nice clothes we can afford. I would've never knew about the undies if it wasn't for you. I am getting a subscription next friday. Keep up the beautiful work on your blog! Blessing and Peace xox

Katie,

I am so sorry to have made you feel miserable for a whole day. This is exactly why I don't usually criticise via mail (in your case it was just a little hard to do it face to face). You never know what mood the other person is in when he/she reads it and can't react and explain yourself anymore. I probably didn't express myself very well and ended up sounding harsher than I ment to. I don't mind sponsored posts (I love the outfits you present for Gwynnie Bee) and I don't think that you have too many of them in general, I just made an observation for the past couple of weeks (and with your explanation I really get why you did it, I would have done the same thing!).

Again, so sorry!

Sarah
