Old Navy Pixie Pants Review

Last week I had a ton of questions about the Old Navy Pixie Pants, and since I actually don't own a pair, I asked my sister-in-law to write up a review for us! After reading her post and seeing how cute the pants were, I've actually already ordered my own pair! So without further ado- here's Stephanie!

Hey y’all! I’m Katie’s sister-in-law, Stephanie. I’ve been in a few pictures on here before, but most recently I drove her to south Alabama to pick up her sweet new puppy! Anyways, Katie wanted me to drop in and tell you about my latest obsession, Old Navy’s new Pixie pants! I love that Old Navy denim comes in so many different shapes…I’ve been wearing the Sweetheart (“for curvier shapes with a defined waist”) for years. Since I’m a Sweetheart devotee, I was nervous to try the new Pixie pant. They claim to be for all shapes and sizes, but so do the Rockstar jeans and those fit terribly no matter how much I size up!

I have never felt that I was a “plus-size” girl, because I’m blessed with height to stretch it all out, but since I’m not a stick-figure teenager anymore it can be hard to find pants that aren’t low-rise or too tight in the butt or too big in the waist. I am the definition of pear-shaped!! I’m super open, so I’ll just say I’m 5’9”, and a size 14/16. I’m all hips, butt, and legs!! I’ve lost 20 lbs since New Year’s (yay!), so I’ve been wanting new pants even though my size hasn’t really changed. I have been looking for the perfect pair of ankle pants that can transition from work (I’m a librarian) and be comfy/casual for going out after work.

I bought a navy pair of Pixie pants on a whim and I can’t even tell you how amazing they made me feel! They run true to size, I bought 14 long. They are available in 3 lengths and up to size 20! First off, they aren’t denim! They’re a soft, comfy cotton (Don’t put them in the dryer! I learned that the hard way!). The first thing I noticed was how flattering they are. I don’t get the waist gap, they’ve got enough stretch for comfort but not so much they sag by the end of the day, and best of all, my butt looks AMAZING in them! It looks like I do squats or something (which I most definitely don’t!)!! They’re also really practical, because they look nice enough for business-casual if you dress them up, but can also be worn with a t-shirt for hanging out around the house or going to a baseball game! I can’t say enough great things about the Pixie! I have never felt so great in a pair of pants! They were on sale recently and I now own 5 pairs! So do yourself a favor and at least go try a pair on. If you’re anything like me, you’ll buy ‘em on the spot and never look back!

Here are some of Stephanie's favorite Pixie looks, and I have to say, I'm a believer! I can't wait to try mine out!

Well hello! I think these are adorable. I am a 12/14 and 5'2". I'm all booooooty as well. Would you say they are thick enough not to show lumps or bumps? Because they look super cute on you!

I wear a 22 in the Pixie and love them. Love wearing them with flats or wedges.

Thank you! I was very curious about the pixie, and this helps answer soooo many questions! You look super cute.

Ashleigh, they are definitely thicker and more forgiving than expected. I've got plenty of lumps and bumps and feel super confident in these! Although, I'll admit, I might personally be nervous to try a white or khaki pair for that reason!!

Those are so cute but they look like they would be way too skinny in the thigh for me (which pretty much all pants are, especially ON styles nowadays). I guess I have to get my butt to Old Navy to try some on and see for sure.

This is such a great post! I have a big issue with my waist and butt/thigh sizes not matching up to the same pant size, and baggy waists are the bane of my existence. I'm gonna have to stop into Old Navy and try on a pair! Also Lulu is toooo damn adorable in that picture.

So, I went to ON and tried them on. Too tight in the thighs and they gapped in my waist and then were way loose on the lower part of my legs. Sad that they didn't fit me.

Can she or you elaborate on the rise? I like a high rise pant and my initial impression of these pants is that they are low rise.

Katie Frost said...

They come almost to my belly button! Maybe an inch or so lower.

When I tried them on, they were definitely lower that what I am generally comfortable with but definitely not low rise. The zipper looked to be very short but it wasn't as bad as I feared they would be.

I bought a pair. I was nervous as hell, too. I am 5'7" ans somewhere between a misses 18 and a plus 18. I have tried other ankle pants but never liked the way they fit. They hit at a weird length, they are too wide at the ankle and make me look a foot shorter than I am, etc.
Well, I have to say I wore my size 18 black ones to work yesterday. I felt adorable all day! I felt a little like Aubrey Hepburn in them. I threw a cardi and pointy toe flats on with it. I can see them this Spring with a dressy tee and long necklaces for work! I am going back for more!

Love your blog! And this post! You're one of my favorite curvy fashion blogs when I'm looking for inspiration and ideas :-) I've always been hesitant to buy Old Navy pants as they seem low waisted and not cut right for a curvier lower half.......but I got a few pairs of these Pixie pants when they were on sale, and I absolutely love them. With the stretch in them you're not at risk of them not staying up :-)

Those are extremely old sandals from Target! They're about to fall apart so I have been scowering eBay for a pair. No luck yet in my size. But I love them! Comfy and match EVERYTHING!

Here's a pair though, if you'd like to do some searching!

I have these pants in a few colors as well, and I LOVE them! They are super comfortable, flattering, and they hold up well. I want to get a black pair as well...and maybe red or navy!

I bought a red pair a few weeks ago at the special price. I loved the way they were comfy yet appropriate for my large size. I bought another pair online the following week and I have noticed that BOTH pairs have a seam splitting right in my derrière. I took the latest pair back. I'm so disappointed!
