In 2011 I discovered Pinterest. Shortly thereafter, I discovered fashion blogs, and my life was changed forever. I know it sounds dramatic, but truer words were never spoken (or written). I was frustrated by what I found on the web, quality plus size fashion blogs were hard to find, and many of them wore clothes WAY out of my price range. So with the support of my husband and a few close friends, I started Hems for Her.
I post three to four times a week and I try to intersperse my photographs with funny stories or commentary on the world around us (well, at least I try to!). When I'm not pretending I am on the Plus Size cycle of America's Next Top Model, I enjoy spending time with my husband and my five-year-old son, reading, shopping, and taking naps.
Oh, and eating.
I also love scary movies and pina coladas and sunset walks along the beach... wait, wait- I'm not trying to get you to date me!
But if you ever want to get in touch with me, feel free to contact me via Facebook, Twitter, email, or this easy Contact Form!
Disclosure Statement:
In the interest of full disclosure, I have created affiliate
advertising relationships with a number of companies. I will receive commission
from affiliate partners when readers click, buy, or shop their offers.
Here are the ways I
have monetized my websites:
Shopsense:
Hems for Her is
affiliated by Shopsense, a program that pays me a small
commission every time a reader clicks a link. Shopsense links can be
distinguished by the URL, which reads “http://www.shopstyle.com…”.
Skimlinks:
Hems for Her is also
affiliated by Skimlinks,
which pays me a small commission if a reader clicks or purchases through
certain links on my websites. Some of these links may look like a normal
retailer website, or they may be shortened to look like “http://buyth.at….”.
Sometimes Skimlinks will add an affiliate link for me, in which case, when your
mouse hovers over the link, a pop-up that says “Link added by Skimwords” will
appear.
Linked items labeled as
“similar” are as close as possible to what I’m actually wearing. If whatever I
have on is still available for sale, I will always link directly to it, even if
I can’t create an affiliate link that will earn me income.
Most of what I wear is either from seasons past and no longer
for sale, or thrifted and therefore one-of-a-kind, so it would be impossible
for me to link solely to items that I’ve vetted and tried myself. However I
link to vendors that I either know from past experience, or whose merchandise
meets my personal standards of purchase. Although some links send you to eBay
or Amazon search results where you have to make the call yourself, I would
never link to vendors that I wouldn’t buy from myself. The idea is not
merely to generate income for me, but also to create access to items like the
ones that I own, and save readers the work of having to track these items down.
I will include a disclosure
statement on every post/article where the direct action spoken of in the
article will generate compensation (i.e. – if you click through a link, then I
receive a commission).
Blogger Networks:
Currently, Hems for
Her is a member of the BlogHer blogger network and Federated Media blogger
network. Both pay me based on the number of ad impressions Hems for Her gives
their sponsors. These ads can be seen at the top of the page and top of the
sidebar.
Sponsors:
Hems for Her is open
to sponsorships by companies that fall in line with the mission of this blog.
Sponsors receive a banner ad in exchange for payment or merchandise
compensation, at my discretion. For more information about how you can sponsor Hems
for Her, you can email me.
Reviews:
Every now and then, a
company sends me a free product for review on Hems for Her. In this case, I
will disclose within the post that the company gave me that item for review.
This in no way sways my opinion of the item, and I try my best to indicate and
photograph the best and worst aspects of the item. I do not accept
cash payment in return for reviews.
I want to ensure you
my sponsorships and/or affiliate programs in no way sway my opinions. In fact,
many of my reviews for companies go completely uncompensated, and I turn down
many offers by companies I do not believe to be of quality or interest to you,
my readers.
If you enjoy reading Hems
for Her, please feel free to interact with the site by clicking or purchasing
through links, as that is how I am compensated for my time and efforts. It is
much appreciated!
Thank you for your
support!
- Katie
